Job Purpose
CAFOD is continuously developing, implementing and actively promoting a new HNWI major donor and philanthropy strategy and plans. The Major Donor Manager will lead on this under the direction of the Head of Major Gifts and Philanthropy (Head of MGP). You will establish new avenues to secure a higher level of giving from existing and new donors and further grow a compelling peer to peer approach. This will involve building strong relationships with your own and the team’s portfolio of high-net-worth donors, inspiring them to give significant gifts and support to CAFOD, enabling the major donor (MD) team to work across a diverse pipeline of prospects and donors.
Job Scope
This post sits in the Major Gifts and Philanthropy (MGP) section which inspires high net worth donors to give significant funding and support for CAFOD’s work. It is part of the Supporter Fundraising and Participation Group. You will report to the Head of MGP and be expected to work closely with other members of the MGP and the newly formed Integrated Fundraising and Business Innovation (IFBI) teams. You will also liaise with other fundraising teams and across e.g., Finance, Advocacy, UK Regions and the International Programme as appropriate.
This role is a senior donor relationship manager post, and you will:
- provide expert major donor knowledge and expertise in securing funds and in soliciting £50,000 plus, ideally six and at times, seven figure donations from CAFOD’s donors for specific projects and programme themes
- manage two Major Donor Executives in developing and delivering the major donor strategy
- work closely with the Head of MGP to maintain relationships with CAFOD’s Leadership Group, Trustees and volunteer leadership to develop supporter networks and to engage donors with our work, ideally at peer-to-peer level
- work with the Every Second Counts Appeal (ESC) Lead to support the £5m major gifts appeal. With the ESC Lead, work with donors and their networks to support this initiative and engage with key stakeholders in raising funds and planning the appeal, as appropriate
- investigate new ways of raising restricted and unrestricted funds to achieve diversified income and to deliver to CAFOD’s long term objectives
- maintain and further develop effective processes and systems, including online ones, to help grow income targets and improve reporting
- work across the wider CAFOD teams to maximise cross collaboration and major gift income opportunities.
Accountability
The post holder is line managed by the Head of MGP. CAFOD’s approach to relationship fundraising is evolving in light of changing external and internal circumstances. This post will need to be able to adapt to these as our fundraising strategy and digital approach develop over the coming years.
