Haiti – Head of Mission At COOPI – International Cooperation

COOPI recherche un Chef de Mission en Haiti

COOPI has been present in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake, providing relief to communities affected by the disaster, and subsequently intervening in successive crises caused by the cholera epidemic (since 2010), hurricanes Sandy (2012) and Matthew (2016). Our activities in the country have been developed in the urban context of the Port-Au-Prince metropolitan area, particularly in the communities of Tabarre, Cité Soleil, Port-au-Prince and Gressier. Following the emergency response, we have worked significantly on disaster risk management in the urban context to support the reconstruction process.

In partnership with IRD, with funding from ECHO and USAID/OFDA , work has been carried out on the creation of information systems on vulnerability and access to key resources for crisis management, as well as on strengthening local disaster response capacities.

Since 2014 we have extended our interventions to Food Security in the rural areas of the country (Central and South-Eastern Departments) according to the methodological approach of DRR/Environment, with a view to strengthening the resilience to drought of the most vulnerable rural communities .
