Job vacancy: Community participation and awareness facilitators (for holders of Palestinian nationality residing in the Gaza Strip)
Location: The Foundation’s field office in the Gaza Strip – Rafah.
Contract duration: two months with the possibility of extension
Job Description:
The duties of the holder of this position include facilitating community discussions and communicating with target groups in Save the Children projects. Tasks also include ensuring operational smoothness, supporting communication tasks, and implementing project-related activities in shelters, shelters, and sites where the Gaza office works. Facilitators must also comply with Save the Children International policies and procedures.
Key areas of the role:
The first main area: facilitating and mediating community forums
- Representing Save the Children and communicating with target groups.
- Facilitating and mediating community discussions through community forum activities.
- Leading community engagement activities in the local community identified for the walk.
- Leading community outreach activities in the local community identified for the walk.
- Directing the public towards the employee or appropriate authorities for assistance.
- Arranging Save the Children staff appointments as necessary.
- Maintain an adequate stock of office and meeting supplies.
- Contribute to planning and preparing for meetings.
- Arranging meetings, seminars, workshops, etc. in the community as needed.
- Documenting observations made by local communities and reporting them to the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Unit.
The second main area:
Save the Children Foundation implements many programs at the development and humanitarian levels. Accordingly, the position holder may be asked to support humanitarian responses if needed
Professional requirements and experience:
- College degree
- Strong skills in communication and dealing with others
- Ability to manage and handle a complex and diverse workload
- Ability to contribute to a small team, motivate employees, work collaboratively with colleagues, and provide support and advice as needed.
- Willingness and ability to change working hours significantly, and work with emergency teams coming from outside the sector.
- Collaborate as needed with organization staff, both internationally and within a team environment
- Understand Save the Children’s vision and mission and pledge to commit to its goals
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Commitment to the values of Save the Children
- Ability to communicate using the Arabic language
- Ability to use the English language
This role is available to holders of Palestinian nationality who are currently in the Gaza Strip, so that the work is done on a daily basis and on an intermittent basis as needed, which results in payment according to the working days during the month.
Applications will be reviewed periodically and continuously until the required number is completed (the expected number is 100, 50 females and 50 males).
