Action Against Hunger is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization created in 1979. It is private, non-political and non-religious. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten women, men and children. Currently, 500 expatriates and more than 5,000 employees work for Action Against Hunger in more than forty-six countries, on projects covering our four areas of work: food, health, food security and food management. water and sanitation system.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • Ensures regional representation and responsibility for the implementation and quality of the program in coordination with the teams of the various project partners.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Objective 1: Ensure the implementation and monitoring of the program
    • Contribute to steering the overall coordination of the program with all partners;
    • Prepare and lead the program coordination unit;
    • Ensure compliance with programmatic (mission and global activities and timelines) and financial commitments, and their smooth running;
    • Monitor, in conjunction with your team, the missions and departments involved, developments, propose the necessary rearrangements/strategic and/or contextual adjustments to the global steering committee and the Country Director;
    • Supervise the organization and monitoring of timely reporting internally and with donors and authorities (if applicable), in a consolidated manner,
    • Manage the budget and contribute to negotiations with the lessor for budgetary modifications and financial information, among other things;
  • Objective 2: Ensure coordination and communication between partners, the consortium and the donor
    • Represents the consortium among the actors involved in the implementation of the program and in the appropriate forums;
    • Ensures communication, the relationship with the donor (in connection with the iDRU) and the different parties involved in the program (governments, partners, beneficiaries, media, etc.);
    • Proactively ensure a good level of communication and information sharing with the donor relations manager (IDRU) to optimize relations with the lessor;
    • Ensures effective communication between partners for all consortium issues;
    • Guarantee with the missions, the partners who are members of the consortium and the members of its team, the fluidity of information;
    • Meet the project partners during field visits and support the field teams in their relationship with the authorities linked to the project;
  • Objective 3: Management and supervision of the UDC team
    • Motivates and coaches staff to effectively achieve their goals through ongoing communication, team building incentives and regular feedback;
    • Coordinates and monitors the planning of activities of all team members;
    • Monitor and participate in the recruitment of team members, in conjunction with the departments involved;
    • Ensures the performance evaluation of his team

OVERALL REMUNERATION

We offer immediate incorporation into a dynamic organization of international scope including the following contractual conditions:

  • Expatriate employment contract with supported status.
  • Duration: 12 months (Renewable).
  • Technical department
  • Base: Nouakchott.
  • Salary between €50,000 – €65,000 gross per year depending on professional experience and responsibilities. This salary is divided into 12 payments and based on experience and background. It includes a base salary + context + Per diem and living expenses.
  • Accommodation supported by the organization.
  • Transportation costs to the mission.
  • One-week breaks with transport costs to the reference area and an extra of €215 for the week.
  • 25 working days of vacation per year with tickets paid for by the organization.
  • Repatriation, accident and travel and life insurance.

PROFILE

Preferable knowledge:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in fields related to development and/or humanitarian aid, Project Management, Social Sciences.

Specific Knowledge / Desirable Techniques:

  • Good knowledge of West Africa and the Sahel including institutions, policies and legal framework;
  • Excellent analytical, synthesis and writing skills;
  • Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and not lose sight of strategic priorities;
  • Adaptability and creativity;
  • Rigor and autonomy in work;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including strategic planning, diplomacy, negotiation and advocacy (particularly with government officials, donors, partners and other stakeholders);
  • Good team management, moderation, conflict resolution and capacity building skills;
  • Knowledge of the graduation approach and the humanitarian/development nexus.
  • Master the strategic axes of Action Against Hunger
  • Knowing the procedures and rules of Action Against Hunger is an asset

Desirable computer skills in:

  • Perfect mastery of the Office package;
  • Mastery of online collaborative platforms and teleworking tools

Experience :

  • 10 years’ experience in coordinating humanitarian and/or development projects in a consortium, managing projects with international donors and multiple partners (reporting, monitoring). Good knowledge of program monitoring and consortium. Familiar with emergency response contexts.

Personal qualities :

  • Dynamic, motivated, diplomatic, positive, optimistic and proactive; teamwork, great negotiation and conflict resolution skills, adaptability.

Skills required:

  • Commitment and understanding of ACF objectives, values ​​and principles
  • Very good command of IT tools

LANGUAGES :

  • Perfect written and oral French

Position mobility:

  • The position based in Nouakchott with regular travel to the mission bases, possible travel in the region (ROWCA); and internationally
