The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a federally funded, private, nonprofit grantmaking organization that works to support freedom around the world, seeks a Grants Assistant, Europe & Eurasia for the Grants Administration team, based in Washington, D.C.
Position Summary:
The Grants Assistant assists grants staff with reviewing, processing, and tracking grant agreements, amendments, payments, and other financial documentation, and preparing routine correspondence and reports**.** The Grants Assistant provides an essential role in ensuring smooth grant operations, timely processing, quality control, and accurate recordkeeping.
The mission of the Grants Administration department is to provide effective and efficient grants management, guiding grantees through the grant lifecycle to support their successful implementation of projects, in support of NED’s mission. The department strives to promote consistent implementation of policy and procedure, flexibility, responsiveness, innovation, and collaboration in the administration of NED’s grantmaking program.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include assisting grants staff with reviewing, processing, and tracking grant agreements, amendments, payments, and other financial documentation and preparing routine correspondence and reports. The Grants Assistant provides an essential role in ensuring smooth grant operations, timely processing, quality control, and accurate recordkeeping. This is an administrative position.
- Process and send final grant agreements, amendments, and routine correspondence. Tasks include database log-in, copying, distribution, tracking and filing. Keep grants staff members abreast of progress of agreements/amendments/correspondence.
- Provide initial review of financial reports for accuracy, timeliness, compliance with format requirements and consistency with prior reports.
- Update the grants database as required and produce assigned reports in an accurate, complete and timely manner.
- Assist with meeting set-up.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of grants management software/databases helpful.
- Other Qualifications:
- Interest in international affairs and the support and strengthening of democratic institutions worldwide.
- Foreign language skills preferred. Proficiency in Russian desired, other regional languages useful but not required.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Competencies:
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Strong oral, written communication, and analytical skills.
- Strong team player, preferably in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to maintain focus on tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.
