The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH looking for Consultant to conduct a gender analysis for the JLMP and subsequent gender action plan”

The GIZ Project “Support to the AU in Migration and Displacement” support the AUC through strengthening the AUC and its mandate to develop continental policy frameworks, and to initiate agreements binding under international law. By doing so a continental policy agreement in the area of migration, mobility and refugee issues is promoted, protection gaps are closed, and the potential of migration is harvested. The GIZ Project supports the AUC in three areas: 1) Strengthening of the coordination as well as the gender-sensitive monitoring of the implementation of the MPFA across departments; 2) Strengthening of the cooperation with the RECs in the preparation for and integration of the MPFA in regional and national migration policy; 3) Strengthening of the technical capacities of relevant AUC departments, AU bodies and institutions through measures applied for by the partner organisations.

Period of assignment: From 13th of October until December 31, 2022 for up to 30 expert days.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Education (2.2.1)Master’s degree in gender studies, social science, law or another relevant field;

  • Language (2.2.2): Fluency in English and knowledge on another AU working language is advantageous.
  • Specific professional experience (2.2.4): At least 5 years of relevant experience in gender mainstreaming and conducting of gender analyses and gender impact assessments; Demonstrated experience of conducting similar assignments; Good drafting skills, ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ability to clarify information, good organizational skills; Skilled and experienced in research, excellent conceptual and analytical skills;
  • Regional experience (2.2.6): Experience in the context of labour migration in Africa;

Knowledge of the AUC, RECs as well as the UN in general and the IOM and ILO in particular;
