Since the transformation of societies is primarily the responsibility of local actors, its activities aim to strengthen their capacity for action and their influence.
Thus, the FIDH brings together 188 national human rights associations active in 116 countries.

The International Secretariat, which carries out FIDH’s missions on a daily basis, is made up of an international team of 70 employees based at the headquarters in Paris and in other offices (Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands), as well as consultants who occasionally work on various programs. It is structured into an Operations and Programs Department and an Advocacy Department as well as Support Departments (Communication, Finance, Fundraising, Human Resources, etc.).

We are recruiting: A PRIVATE FUNDRAISING OFFICER (FOUNDATIONS AND COMPANIES) CDI – FULL TIME

Main missions and responsibilities

Within the Development and Partnerships Department, and reporting to the Department Director, the private fundraising officer’s main missions are to:

A / PARTICIPATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FUNDRAISING STRATEGY FOR PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS AND COMPANIES

  • Participate in defining the department’s multi-year strategy, action plans and annual budget
  • Define the multi-year strategy for seeking funding from private foundations, businesses and corporate foundations
  • Define the means to be implemented to facilitate the prospecting and loyalty of private financial partners
  • Determine annually the plan of activities and objectives, including figures, specific to his functions and ensure regular reporting to the Director of the department.

B / IMPLEMENT PRIVATE FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

  • Conduct targeted research (prospect mapping) on ​​private financial partners such as foreign private foundations, companies and corporate foundations, or other actors, in France and abroad, according to the specific needs of the geographic and thematic offices (programs), the Advocacy Directorate or to obtain flexible funds for the structure
  • Monitor and learn about trends in NGO funding through private funds and corporate sponsorship, determine targets, understand their priorities and funding mechanisms, and propose guidelines and recommendations for obtaining funding.
  • Conduct interviews (in person or remotely) with companies and foundations and make tailor-made partnership proposals, adapted to the issues expressed by the prospect
  • Analyze calls for proposals and funding opportunities, develop summaries and participate in the Go/No Go decision with the Operations Department and General Management
  • Supervise and develop proposals to financial partners, prepare administrative files and ensure coordination between the different offices and departments involved (communication, Business & Human Rights, accounting, sometimes General Secretariat)
  • Develop sponsorship agreements, edit and send tax receipts
  • Cultivate long-term relationships by planning and organizing points of contact (communications, meetings, invitations to events, etc.) in order to sustain donations.
  • Ensure reporting deadlines are met and supervise-prepare, in conjunction with the Administrative and Financial Department (for financial aspects), activity reports to be presented to financial partners
  • Ensure regular updating of contacts in the database and archiving of files.

C / PARTICIPATE IN EXTERNAL REPRESENTATION AND INTERNAL ANIMATION

  • Participate in strategic cross-functional exchange meetings with office managers or other departments
  • On the guidance of the Department Director, represent the FIDH with financial partners
  • Participate in activities proposed by the NGO networks of which FIDH is a member and report to the rest of the team.

D / OTHER TASKS

  • Participate in the design of specific communication and prospecting tools and, more generally, make FIDH’s actions and results visible to donors.
  • Participate in organizing events for partners such as webinars, breakfasts, etc.
  • Take part in awareness-raising and training activities for FIDH employees, and possibly member organisations, in the field of fundraising from private financial partners
  • On the guidance of the Department Director, support colleagues in other ad hoc tasks.

Required profile

Level of education, experience

  • With a Master 2 level of training, if possible in the field of project management, you ideally have a specialization in fundraising, communication or marketing for NGOs or patronage.
  • During a previous experience, you have acquired good legal and fiscal knowledge concerning patronage and partnerships with private actors, and you have an appetite for the human rights sector.
  • When you start the role, you will have at least 5 years of professional experience in a similar role.

Skills (know-how, know-how)

  • Knowledge of human rights, international relations and geopolitics, CSR and a good general culture would be appreciated.
  • The candidate must be motivated, have marketing/communication skills and must be proficient in social networks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French are required, as well as ideally a command of a third language.

Conditions of employment

  • Full-time permanent contract – 39 hours/week
  • Position based in Paris 11th – You will be working from the FIDH office in Paris, France. FIDH recognises that flexible working arrangements are important for work-life balance, and offers the possibility to work from home up to 80% with a minimum of 4 days of face-to-face time per month
  • Remuneration: from €38,000 gross per year over 13 months, depending on profile
