Assignment :

Your main role will be to contribute to ACF’s ecosystem approach by participating in the management of priority technical projects for the Environment/Ecology sector within the Expertise and Advocacy Department:
More specifically, your missions will be as follows:
Lead the identification of climate and environmental risks (drought, floods, etc.) in our intervention areas. In partnership with Technical Service Managers and Operational Technical Referents, identify and validate the risks.
List the main negative effects observed when these risks are proven.
Capitalize on ACF’s experience on these risks.
List the main Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) that respond to the identified risks. Dialogue with Operational Technical Referents and Department Managers of the Country Offices to identify the responses already made to the identified risks.
Consolidate with Department Managers and Operational Technical Referents to judge whether the response made was appropriate and effective, but also environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Create quality Nature-Based Solutions summary sheets that are confirmed and adapted to the humanitarian sector.
Ensure the dissemination of the content created in connection with this project. Create a search engine for solutions in the catalog of developed solutions.
Design a training/communication module for these new sheets.
Contribute to the “Mangroves” pilot project in Sierra Leone: Establish an identification of climate and environmental risks in coastal areas.
Capitalize on this pilot project for a Planetary Health project.
Contribute to the operation of the Research, Analysis & Learning department. Participate in key internal and external events in the area of ​​expertise.
Participate in Research, Analysis and Learning department meetings, and in the Environment unit, according to needs and priorities.
Provide support to the Ecologist Referent.

Profile:

You hold a Master 2 degree in the field of ecology and you have experience in the field of integrating ecology into humanitarian, public and/or private institutions.
You are a specialist in the field of ecology and have experience in the field of operational and/or applied research, ideally in the humanitarian sector.
You have knowledge of ecology and in particular of Nature-Based Solutions.
Knowledge of the One Health or Planetary Health concepts is desirable. Knowledge and understanding of environmental issues is also a plus.
You have a perfect command of English, both spoken and written.

Conditions of employment

Status: Integrated framework – Contract for a Definite Purpose 4 months – Full time (The contract can be extended until 2025 subject to funding)
Location: Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis)
Remuneration: From 36K to 46K euros gross per year over 13 months depending on experience
