Created in 1979, Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization that fights against world hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principles – independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, transparency – has founded its identity for more than 40 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of undernutrition, particularly during and after emergencies linked to conflict and natural disasters. Action Against Hunger coordinates its programs around 5 areas of activity: Nutrition and Health – Mental Health, Psychosocial Support and Protection – Food Security and Livelihoods – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene – Advocacy. Mission :
Under the responsibility of the Country Director, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the country strategy at the zone level but also represent ACF with local stakeholders, and ensure the monitoring and negotiation of humanitarian access to the level of the region. Finally, you will need to assess needs based on the program strategy to ensure the best program support.
More specifically, your role will be to:
Contribute to the development and implementation of the country strategy at the level of the area of responsibility.
Represent Action Against Hunger with local stakeholders, and ensure monitoring and negotiation of humanitarian access at the level of the area of responsibility.
Assess needs based on program strategy to ensure the best support for programs.
Ensure compliance and harmonization of programmatic and support procedures throughout the area.
Supervise the zonal support hub by monitoring the implementation and quality of programs.
This position provides for field trips in the North Kivu region, particularly in Mweso and Maniema.
Profile :
You have at least 5 years of experience in a humanitarian organization, ideally including experience in an organization implementing nutrition/health, mental health and psychosocial support, food security and livelihoods or WASH programs .You have already managed and supervised multi-sectoral humanitarian programs/activities. You also have experience managing teams and programs in complex contexts. You are sensitive to cultural differences and cross-cutting themes of gender, protection and environment. You are able to operationalize these and work in a wide variety of cultural contexts. You know how to manage and apply a continuous control mechanism for operations in order to increase their quality and identify and limit the risks associated with their Implementation. You have very good skills in analyzing context, a situation and its challenges. You know how to manage a team and have demonstrated training skills with a keen interest in increasing the skills and empowering your teams. You have excellent skills in teamwork and establishing good relationships both internally and externally. You have a perfect command of the Microsoft Office package. You are organized and reliable, and you are able to show initiative and work with limited supervision. You are flexible, adaptable and patient with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor!
Conditions of employment
Fixed-term contract under French law: 12 months
Gross monthly salary: from 2,899 to 3,376 euros depending on experience
Per diem and monthly living expenses: $974 net, paid in the field
Context allowance monthly: 450 euros
Child allowance: 1500 euros per year and per child present in the country of origin (ceiling of 6000 euros/year)
Transport and accommodation: Coverage for travel and collective accommodation
Medical Coverage: 100% of coverage of contributions health and repatriation insurance
Leave and RnR: 25 days per year of CP and 20 RnR per year; payment of the ticket with ceiling to go to the chosen break zone, and 215 euros of fixed compensation per RnR
