Accountant At Counterpart International

The El Salvador Rights and Dignity Project (hereinafter referred to as the “Project”) is an eight-year initiative funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Counterpart International (Counterpart ) that seeks to strengthen governmental and non-governmental systems for the defense of human rights in El Salvador. For this purpose and to meet all the financial requirements of the Project, Counterpart International seeks to hire an Accountant under the supervision of the Finance and Administration Manager to support all the tasks described below. Salvadoran citizens are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to the financial area.
  • Carry out the accounting record of office operations in accordance with the policies established by the central office.
  • Record the expenses and income of the Project in the accounting system.
  • Prepare transfers and bank reconciliations and checks.
  • Support in the preparation of monthly operational and programmatic budgets, provide funds to maintain the cash flow and financial operation of the Project.
  • Prepare and present financial cost reports, budget projections and accounting follow-ups.
  • Keep physical and digital accounting files updated.
  • Support with local and central office audit requests.
  • Any other activity that is required.

Qualifications

  • University student or professional graduated in Public Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or other related careers.
  • Minimum experience of five (5) years performing accounting and/or financial tasks in private institutions or cooperation agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting processes and knowledge of good financial practices.
  • Experience in managing accounting systems and banking platforms.
  • Knowledge of the regulations and standards of international cooperation projects.
  • Complete command of the Spanish and English language at a basic level.
  • Skills in using Microsoft Office, particularly in the use of Word and Excel.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Organized with good interpersonal relationships and accustomed to working under pressure.

Preferably:

  • Work experience in similar positions in international or cooperation organizations.
