Accounting and Administrative Assistant At International Committee of the Red Cross

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent humanitarian organization. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the ICRC is mandated to provide protection and assistance to victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence, provides humanitarian aid in emergencies and works to promote respect for international humanitarian law and its integration into national legislation. As part of the development of its activities in Haiti, the ICRC is recruiting one (1) candidate for the position below:

Position: Accounting and Administrative Assistant

Duty station: Port-au-Prince

Reports to: Finance & Administration Manager

Purpose of the position
The Accounting and Administrative Assistant assists the accountant by preparing and analyzing the Delegation’s accounting documents. He/she is responsible for cash operations and the integrity of liquid assets, in strict compliance with ICRC rules on financial management. He/she is also required to provide versatile administrative support for other departments within the administration.

Main Responsibilities
Under the supervision of his/her direct manager, he/she will have the following tasks and responsibilities:
• Manages the disbursements and cash payments of the Delegation, including salaries and advances on operations.
• Assists the Accountant in his/her daily tasks.
• Participates in cash management and ensures sufficient liquidity; ensures cash replenishments with the Administrative and Financial Manager.
• Ensures compliance with financial procedures and guidelines and explains them to “clients”.
• Files accounting documents by batch and DGI receipts. Ensures that documentation is organized and up to date.
• Performs multi-skilled support tasks within the administrative department (welcome; premises).
• Is the reference person within the administrative department for ICRC correspondence and protocol, intermediate filing and archiving, and the use of standard IT tools.

Knowledge, experience and minimum criteria required
• High school diploma or professional qualification.
• Minimum two years of experience in a similar field.
• Very good level of French (spoken and written) and good level of English (spoken and written) required.
• Proficiency in IT tools; excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word. Excel. PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with an international organization would be an advantage.
• Sense of organization, responsibility and priorities
• Ability to take initiatives, analytical skills, methodical and rigorous
• The accounting and administrative assistant must comply at all times and in all circumstances with a strict obligation of neutrality, independence and impartiality.
