Tdh:

Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the largest Swiss children’s aid organization. Since 1960, Tdh has helped build a better future for disadvantaged children and their communities through innovative and sustainable solutions. Active in nearly 40 countries, Tdh works with local and international partners to develop and implement projects on the ground that improve the daily lives of more than four million children and members of their communities, in areas of health, protection and emergency. This commitment is funded by individual and institutional supports, with administrative costs kept to a minimum.

Context :

Present since 1986, the Burkina Faso delegation is the oldest of Tdh in Africa. It is also the Foundation’s most important delegation in budgetary terms. Through its 21 projects in 9 of the 13 regions of the country covering all of Tdh’s areas of intervention and the involvement of 313 employees, it supported, in 2021, 3,116,596 beneficiaries. Based on the priority needs of the country, Tdh’s projects in Burkina Faso are currently structured around five programmatic departments: (i) Protection – Migration and Access to Justice; (ii) Food Security and Livelihoods; (iii) Health; (iv) Emergency and (v) Social Cohesion and Human Rights, implementation of the Foundation’s priority Programs and Expertise.

Responsibilities:

The Coordinator directs and organizes the administrative and financial service of the delegation and the bases (general accounting, administrative and budgetary management). He/she is the direct interface between the delegation and headquarters and/or donors for financial reporting.

Under the responsibility of the Deputy Head of Delegation in charge of support, the Coordinator ensures multi-base, multi-donor and/or multi-partner administrative supervision and monitoring of projects. He/she assumes responsibility for implementing the strategy, development and managerial coordination of the administrative teams for which he/she is responsible. In addition, he/she supports and validates the quality of the teams’ work with regard to the mandate and commitments of Tdh and international standards.

Main responsibilities exercised :

  • Strategy and policy: Participate in the development and evolution of institutional strategies and policies
  • Research and development: Participate in the development of new tools in your field of activity
  • People management / team management: Supervise and lead the Delegation’s finance team, set the department’s objectives, carry out periodic evaluations of employees under their direct responsibility
  • Skills development: Identify employee training needs and organize local or internal training in collaboration with headquarters
  • Procedures, Budget, project management: Ensure the dissemination, adherence and monitoring of Tdh procedures
  • Audit: Manage the statutory audit of the Delegation
  • Administration/logistics and recovery of services: Contribute to compliance with legal standards (HR, financial, administrative), with the support of local experts if necessary
  • Advocacy, representation / networking: Ensure, for its field of activity, the representation of Terre des hommes to national authorities and at the local level in support of project managers
  • Information / Publications / Communications / Reporting: Produce the financial information necessary for the preparation of the report or any other documents requested by headquarters and donors
  • Risk management policy: Commits to respecting Tdh’s risk management policies which include: The Child Safeguarding Policy, the safety and security policy, the anti-fraud/corruption policy as well as the Child Protection Policy. reporting any abuse

Profile :

  • Education: Higher diploma in financial and accounting management or administration
  • Languages: French mother tongue; good knowledge of English
  • Desired experience: At least 6 years of significant experience in a similar position: In-depth knowledge of financial controls and accounting standards – Good knowledge of the procedures of the following donors: EU, UNICEF, ECHO, USAID, DDC, BMG, ADA, Chain of happiness, OCHA, etc.….
  • Computer science : Mastery of the Saga tool essential. Good command of Word, Excel, and management system

Conditions :

  • Expatriate contract under Swiss law
  • Gross monthly salary 5,000 CHF – 5,500 CHF depending on experience x13 (+ AVS withholding for Swiss candidate)
