OFFER SUMMARY

The International Bureau for Children’s Rights (IBCR), a Canadian NGO dedicated to the protection and promotion of children’s rights, is researching, as part of its voluntary cooperation program PCV (Project for the Comprehensive Strengthening of Children’s Rights ) a counselor in psychosocial and legal support to support their partner, UDIMUF .

Through this mandate, share your skills and expertise in order to advise, strengthen, and train the UDIMUF team in psychosocial and legal support for children to support it in the implementation of its mission. The mandate includes the development of guidelines, the design of related tools, the conduct of training and technical support for the organization’s various activities , among other tasks.

UDIMUF is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to contribute to improving the quality of life of women and children, particularly adolescent girls and girls, through the recognition, development and strengthening of their capacities, by offering them spaces for political participation, citizenship, promotion, dissemination and advocacy to guarantee the right to a life without gender-based violence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The volunteer will be responsible for:

  • Contribute and support UDIMUF in:
  • Strengthening individual and organizational capacities in terms of psychosocial support
  • The development of guidelines and tools for the psychological monitoring of children and adolescents hosted and/or accompanied by the partner organization
  • The development of the referral system towards partners and/or specialized structures
  • The development of child awareness sessions on the rights of children in conflict with the law and/or children victims of violence, abuse or exploitation
  • Review and improve the training modules offered by the partner organization with personal development tools for children
  • Develop and lead training workshops on mental health and the psychology of human development
  • Train the legal and social team on the specific approach to children and adolescents
  • Support the partner organization in the implementation and evaluation of acquired skills
  • Actively participate in initiatives, events or activities planned by the partner organization as part of the PCV
  • Support the strengthening of the partner organization in all other activities related to its expertise
  • Support the partner organization in the implementation and evaluation of acquired skills;
  • Actively participate in initiatives and activities planned in collaboration with the partner organization as part of the program;
  • Support the strengthening of the partner organization in all other activities related to its expertise.

Other missions linked to the PCV project:

  • Support the activities of the PCV Social Laboratory
  • Write progress reports on activities carried out during the mandate
  • Participate in the promotion of international volunteering in Canada by participating in the IBCR’s communication efforts (writing articles or blog posts on the volunteering experience, videos, interviews, events, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIREMENTS:

Technical skills :

  • Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken, and fluent French or English
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in psychoeducation, social work, psychology or related field
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in functions related to psychoeducation, social work, psychology or any other relevant experience related to the mandate
  • Experience in developing and using psychosocial and legal tools
  • Experience in organizing and leading workshops and training
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and the tools of the Outlook environment (Teams, mail, SharePoint, Forms, etc.) and Google (Google Docs, Google Drive, Gmail, etc.)

Human skills:

  • Great adaptability and ability to be flexible in the face of change
  • Excellent interpersonal and participatory skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • Ability to plan work, establish priorities, multitask and be proactive
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and gender equality
  • Promotion of a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the partner organization team and among other volunteers

About the PCV program

The Comprehensive Child Rights Project (PCV) , implemented by the International Bureau for Children’s Rights (IBCR), aims to improve the well-being and protection of children, particularly girls, as well as the promotion of their rights throughout the world, in a sustainable manner.

Lasting seven years (2020-2027), this project is part of the Canadian Volunteer Cooperation Program and will allow more than 250 professional volunteers to be deployed in 11 countries.

By sharing the skills of these volunteers and qualified mentors with a network of committed partners, the PCV contributes to strengthening child protection in the countries in which it is present.
