Agronomist At Active in Development Aid

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Developing better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improving crop yield, and solving problems from the beneficiaries.
  2. Promoting agricultural strategies to counter the effects of changes in soil, and pest damage.
  3. Visiting fields to collect seed, plant, and monitor desert locust infestations or doing scouts.
  4. Assisting with the seed sowing, nursery beds and transplanting seeds to the actual grounds.
  5. Keeping detailed records regarding fields, beneficiaries, crops, and samples.Generating reports and presenting findings to ADA management for field progress.
  6. Conducting or assisting for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for the good crop yield for high production.
  7. Taking part with the seeds physical quality test before seed sowing
  8. Ensuring to carry out desert locust surveillance for every week for target or non-target farmers.
  9. Conducts crop yield visiting field farmers for the crop status.
  10. She/he is expected to perform all duties which may be required of you in this role and as set out in the attached job description as well as other tasks assigned by the director from time to time if required. You must comply with all reasonable directions given to you and observe all the safeguarding and gender policies, procedures and rules of the employer as may be introduced and/or amended from time to time.
  11. The employee shall with necessary field travel to the projects and any other location where deemed necessary.

Required Skills and Experience

1)Bachelors/Diploma in Food Security or other related subject

2)Fluency in Somali and English

3)Have experience working in Bardhere district

4)Computer literate.
