Lifting Hands International is looking for an Aid Distribution & Warehouse Manager to start in June 2023 in Greece with a minimum six-month commitment.
About Us
Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ refugees at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psychosocial support programs.
Role Profile
The manager oversees the implementation, regular evaluation and development of distributions of food items and hygiene products for a majority of the Serres Camp population.
The manager takes responsibility for the running of the warehouse and the development of relationships with other organizations in order to facilitate the receiving and sending of necessary aid to where it is most needed throughout the country.
Warehouse:
- Management of warehouse and stock using Boxtribute software
- Completion regular reports and program reviews in collaboration with senior management
- Supervision of visiting (international) volunteers during regular warehouse shifts
- Development of a network of local suppliers for distributions in line with budget restrictions
- Engagement of partners and donors to fulfill distribution needs
- Collaboration with the Director of Logistics & Distributions to maintain oversight of finances
Aid Distribution:
- Planning and Management of distributions (including food, clothing and hygiene items), regular assessment and evaluation, design and implementation of project improvements in coordination with the Director of Logistics & Distributions and in line with organizational strategy
- Maintaining resident census
- Supervision of a team of visiting and community volunteers in facilitation of distributions
Essential Criteria:
- Proactive: Able to work well independently and without constant supervision
- Previous humanitarian experience, particularly in a Aid Distribution, Warehouse Management or Logistics role
- International drivers license, ability to drive a van
- Previous experience of people management
- Professional attitude, able to remain calm under pressure
- Able to work well in a large, multicultural team
- Minimum six month commitment
- Fluent English speaker
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of Greek / Arabic / Kurmanji / Farsi / French
- Understanding of key aid distribution principles
- Maintenance or construction skills
- Potential to stay on the team for 6-12 months
