Scope of the Job
We are looking for an experienced and passionate candidate to build on Alfanar’s successes to date. The Alfanar Data Officer will work with Alfanar’s London based Investment Officer to further develop and streamline Alfanar’s monitoring & evaluation tools and policies; develop Qlik dashboards for Alfanar and social enterprises; and support both Alfanar’s and social enterprise’s decision making. The Alfanar Data Officer will act as a subject matter expert, providing coaching, guidance, and support on all matters regarding data governance. Alfanar provides a rare opportunity to help identify, scale and promote the work of truly inspiring social entrepreneurs in the Arab world.
Main Responsibilities
Develop & Maintain dashboards
- Participate in data review workshops with newly onboarded social enterprises
- Link existing stakeholder data gathering tools to QLIK or design new templates
- Provide support in developing and testing stakeholder financial and social dashboards on QLIK
- Provide support in developing Alfanar organisational dashboards on QLIK
- Automate dashboards (schedule frequent data updates from management console)
- Perform ongoing adjustments – as per request – on the dashboards
Data Quality & Data Assurance
- Perform frequent data assurance checks on stakeholder and Alfanar data
- Work with Alfanar and stakeholders to improve data quality across data-sets
- Initiate data improvement and data automation strategies based on regular assessment
Ensure that storage, backup, and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
Develop Alfanar Data Governance Framework
- Provide support in developing Alfanar’s data governance framework encompassing storage, data quality, security, data use, regulatory & compliance, and master data management policies.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience
- Experience in project management, work plans and implementing them effectively
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- Strong database design and development skills
- A detailed level of knowledge of the tools, technologies, skills, and processes required to deliver data analytics
- Experience working with Business Intelligence software (preferably Qlik)
- Strong knowledge of data quality
- Data governance experience
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience in training or coaching is a plus
- Strong communications skills in both English and Arabic languages
- Ability to explain complicated issues in non-technical terms
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders ranging from marginalised populations, social entrepreneurs (client interface) to international teams
- Passionate about Alfanar’s mission and values, venture philanthropy, sustainable development, social enterprise and the Arab world
- Self-motivated and highly organised with a passion for working in a fast-paced environment where proactivity, initiative and leadership are encouraged
