Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time volunteer analyst for the Ukraine Programme. The role involves desk-based research, open-source investigation, and analyses of Russian media content and political statements to prepare various legal submissions.
Deadline: 8 November 2024 (Midnight CET)
Start date: ASAP
Duration: min. 3 months
Commitment: 10 hours/week, flexible work hours
Location: home office (remote)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Scanning Russian media outlets with the aim of identifying specific statements
- Open-source investigation tracking various information relevant to case-building efforts
- Analytical work involving the assessment of various statements in light of international law and human rights law
- Assistance with drafting various submissions for accountability mechanisms on the national and international level
Main Requirements
Mandatory:
- Passion and dedication to the mission and values of the organisation, result-driven commitment, ability to work in an international team and handle uncertain situations with flexibility
- A good understanding of the Russian media and politics
- A good understanding of international humanitarian and international criminal law (Master, doctoral candidate, or holder of a PhD degree. Suitably qualified Bachelors will be considered)
- Experience with writing legal submissions or academic writing is an advantage
- Very good proficiency in English (C1 minimum)
- Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian would be a strong advantage
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to convey complex information and messages in a simple way and easily understood by target audiences
- Ability to meet reasonable deadlines and ability to work in a team
Desirable:
- Entrepreneurial spirit with out-of-the-box thinking to propose new initiatives
- Willingness to continuously learn and develop new skills
- Previous experience with non-profit organisations and project management
