Anesthesiologist-Intensive Care Physician, Global Fund GC7 Grant At World Vision

As part of the fight against HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria in the Central African Republic, WVI has been selected as a Principal Recipient of the Global Fund GC7 grant for the period from 2024 to 2026.

As part of the health system strengthening component of the grant, specifically in the area of human resources, WVI is recruiting 8 specialized medical doctors on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Population. These specialists will be assigned to specific hospitals in country to fill current gaps, ensure the transfer of skills and build the capacities of students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Bangui.

Skills required:

  • Doctor of Medicine degree with specialization in anesthesia-resuscitation.
  • Registration with the Order of Physicians and good knowledge of the regulations and medical standards in force (can be done locally).
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in anesthesia and resuscitation, preferably in a university hospital setting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven teaching skills and interest in medical education.

Objective of the position:

The main mission of the intensive care anaesthetist will be to provide high-quality anesthetic care to patients at the University Hospital, while contributing to training and teaching within the associated faculty of medicine.

Main responsibilities:

1. Clinical practice:

  • Ensure the anesthetic management of patients scheduled for surgical procedures, in collaboration with the medical and surgical teams.
  • Actively participate in post-operative care in the resuscitation or intensive care unit, as required.

2. Education:

  • Supervise and train medical interns and anesthesia residents in their clinical and theoretical practices.
  • Participate in the faculty of medicine’s educational activities, such as lectures, seminars, and tutorials.

3. Research:

  • Contribute to clinical and scientific research projects carried out within the Department of Anesthesia and Resuscitation of the University Hospital.
  • Publish and present research results at medical and scientific conferences.

4. Interdisciplinary collaboration:

  • Work closely with medical, surgical and paramedical teams to ensure comprehensive and multidisciplinary patient care.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Type of contract: fixed-term contract (full-time).
