UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a TA full-time position within the Greening & Sustainability Project in our Global Mobility and Infrastructure (GMIS) Section.

Organizational context

The position is located in the Global Mobility and Infrastructure Service (GMIS) within the Division of Financial and Administrative Management (DFAM). DFAM contributes to safeguarding the financial resources entrusted to UNHCR by maintaining and improving the financial and admin. systems, policies and procedures and promoting cost-effective and transparent use of these resources. In the context of the Regionalization, decentralization and further HQ realignment, the Global Mobility and Infrastructure Service was recently created by merging sections previously located in different divisions. DFAM is hence hosting new functions.

DFAM is looking for a Temporary Appointment based in Geneva in order to support GMIS with its communication relating to the establishment of the new service and relating to various key projects. The Associate Officer Graphic Design will focus mainly on supporting DFAM communication strategy, producing DFAM/GMIS messaging and boosting internal communication.

The position

Under the supervision of the Chief of GMIS, the Associate Officer Graphic Design will work directly with GMIS staff and liaise closely with colleagues across the division to help promote and disseminate information of key significance to the advancement of the overall goals and objectives to the Division in a creative, engaging and strategic way.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of DFAM/GMIS internal communication strategy to meet DFAM communication objectives, aligned with the Global Internal Communications Strategy and UNHCR Brand guidelines.
  • Liaise with DFAM sections and units on graphic design needs (presentations, newsletters, factsheets, dashboards, templates, briefs and any other business development material), submit high quality, original design concepts for consideration, incorporate comments from stakeholders and submit proposed final design.
  • Help to revamp the DFAM intranet pages for GMIS in order to adjust to the recent changes: produce new content/revamp old content and design it in a manner that is interesting and appealing to the target audience.
  • Participate in discussions on GMIS projects for developing the DFAM/GMIS communication.
  • Support the supervisor in ensuring content created reaches maximum impact by developing strategies for boosting the visibility of the content (design communication, presentation)
  • Perform other duties as required.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required

  • Academic qualifications: Advance university degree in graphic design, digital media or related fields,.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience with design software and technologies (portfolio of similar works done to be provided), demonstrated experience in visual messaging and informational graphic, a creative mindset and the ability to work well under pressure, handling tight deadlines
  • Language: Fluency in English required. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

Location

The successful candidate will be based in Geneva, Switzerland or home based.

Conditions

The Temporary Appointment is for six months and the expected start date is 01 October 2021. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
