JOB PURPOSE

This position is located in the WFP Supply Chain Operations Division, Aviation Service (SCOA). SCOA provides air access for both humanitarian cargo and passengers on behalf of the humanitarian community in some of the world’s most challenging places. The incumbent will perform his/her functions under the overall supervision of the Chief Aviation Service, and the direct supervision of the Head of Quality Assurance Unit (QAU).**

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As Aviation Quality Assurance Officer – Technical Writer, you will be responsible for the following key duties:

  • Formulate and promulgate aviation quality assurance and standardization procedures and policies.
  • Research, prepare, and edit technical documents;
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to provide constructive feedback on presentations, white papers, contract deliverable documents, Standard Operating Procedures, etc;
  • Manage templates to ensure consistent and repeatable representation of deliverables;
  • Provide guidance to improve practices, internal controls and procedures in line with corporate policies and procedures for coverage of risks;
  • Carry out continuous evaluations, and process improvement of quality across all activities;
  • Support the development of processes to support continual improvements in services provided;
  • Manage timely delivery of documentation and works with key stakeholders to provide timely input;
  • Deliver high-quality documentation paying attention to detail;
  • Carry out any other duties as requested.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

  • Quality Assurance Unit reports;
  • Performance assessments and other assessments needed;
  • Draft and/or reviews of guidance and strategic documentation;
  • Synthesis of evaluation findings, recommendations, and monitoring of relevant implementation;
  • Quality Assurance Advisories and recommendations.

STANDARD MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

You have an Advanced University degree in Aviation / Safety Management, and/or Communications.

Experience

You have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in aviation industry, including 3 years’ experience in aviation technical writing;
  • Professional training and experience in Aviation Quality Assurance, and/or Air Transport and/or Aviation Safety Management;
  • Professional credentials in the development and implementation of Quality Assurance Systems or equivalent experience;
  • Knowledge of ICAO SARPs, and experience in developing and implementing rules, regulations and operating manuals.

Language

  • You are fluent in oral and written English and you have technical writing skills;
  • Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, French, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
