About the Position
The Budget Analysts’ responsibilities include preparing budget versus actual reports and monitoring organizational spending. This position will be responsible to evaluate budget proposals to determine the optimal allocation of project funds. This position will be responsible for evaluating spending needs, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and ensuring optimal indirect cost recovery. This position will develop an understanding of the business activities of the international field offices and use this knowledge to identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance operational efficiencies. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Budget & Analysis.

*This role can be based in either of our offices in Washington, D.C. or in The Hague, Netherlands*

Key Functions

  • Evaluate budget proposals and funding requests;
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop a budget;
  • Prepare cost-benefit analyses to determine value;
  • Monitor spending to ensure it remains within budget;
  • Estimate and forecast future financial needs by country and for the organization as a whole;
  • Ensure the organization’s budget adheres to legal regulations;
  • Prepare analyses to identify trends in spending and insights into the funding;
  • Suggest improvements to increase profits and reduce expenses; and,
  • Prepare periodic and special reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of budget and finance experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Highly analytical and advanced problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of working with international NGOs (INGO);
  • Ability to perform and prioritize competing projects and tasks with ease and professionalism;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English;
  • Must be able to keep CIVIC matters strictly confidential;
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and accounting software skills;
  • Knowledge of MIP is preferred.

Additional Details

Currently, CIVICs Washington, DC and The Hague offices are open, under strict adherence to all applicable COVID-19 regulations. This means that in-person presence in one of our offices is required for two days per week.
