SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: drinking, eating, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the world’s leading cause of death, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams – 3,200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
The Finance Assistant to the Financial Coordinator supports the CAF in the management and coordination of all financial aspects of the mission.
As an assistant, he/she supports the CAF in order to guarantee the financial balance of the mission and compliance by all with Solidarités International procedures, donor procedures and the laws of the country in which Solidarités International operates.
He/she is one of the referents on the mission. He/she will be the link between the headquarters and the mission for any questions relating to financial management, in particular budget monitoring.
SPECIFIC ISSUES AND CHALLENGES:
The Burkina mission is a young mission with a financial department that is beginning to structure itself; the recent implementation of shared costs in budget monitoring is a major challenge that requires support from the teams.
PRIORITIES FOR THE FIRST 2-3 MONTHS:
- Continue the implementation of all IT procedures within the mission; with an emphasis on shared costs
- Training and capacity building of the finance team on all financial tools;
- Taking charge of the financial coverage of the mission and the contract portfolio;
YOUR PROFILE
A salaried position: Depending on experience, from EUR 2310 gross per month (2100 basic salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of 550 euros
SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s home country and the duty station.
Breaks: During the mission, a system of alternating between work and leave is set up at a rate of 7 working days every three months (with USD 850 allocated by Solidarités International). In addition to these break periods, there is one additional day of rest per month worked.
Social and medical coverage: Expatriates benefit from insurance that reimburses all health costs (including medical and surgical costs, dental and ophthalmological care, repatriation) and a welfare system that includes war risks. The costs of essential vaccinations and anti-malarial treatment are reimbursed.
LIVING CONDITIONS:
The city of Ouagadougou is the capital of Burkina Faso and the largest city in the country. Life there is relatively pleasant. Security rules exist on the mission, so some places and streets are prohibited. There is no curfew or risk of confinement.
The organization provides collective accommodation for expatriates.
Guest House Conditions: house staff, Internet and telephone network, Canal+
For catering: cook available, attendance at external restaurants depends on the security context
