WHAT WE DO

SOLIDARITIES INTERNATIONAL ( SI ) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for more than 40 years, has been helping populations victims of armed conflict and natural disasters by meeting vital needs, drink, eat, take shelter. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements, through its interventions, expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in that, essential, food security and livelihood. Present in more than 20 countries, the SI teams, 2,500 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, headquarters staff, some volunteers…- intervene with professionalism and commitment in respecting cultures.

DESCRIPTION OF THE MISISON

Solidarités International has worked since 2018 in Burkina Faso, mainly in the North, North Center, Boucle du Mouhoun and Sahel regions. Since then, SI has provided food security responses, in EHA, in emergency shelters to populations affected by the deterioration and the loss of their means of existence following a deterioration of the security situation. The SI mission in Burkina is young but is experiencing significant development with now 5 operational bases ( Ouahigouya, Kongoussi, Djibo, Sebba, Dori ) and 1 coordination base in Ouagadougou. Currently, SI is a member of the RRM-Frontline in a consortium with ACF, HI and DRC on ECHO and GFFO funding. Since 2019, SI has been implementing a major multisectoral response program to the urgent needs and recovery of displaced populations with BHA.The SAME portfolio of SI has gradually evolved. Since 2020 SI deploys cash transfer and voucher (Redrose) interventions under AAP and BHA funding mainly, but also Startfund. SI is co-lead Burkina of’a cross-border consortium (IRC Mali Lead) funded by the DUE that aims to support resilience and conflict reduction in northern Burkina. SI is also implementing a program on the Nexus EHA with partners Gret and URD on AFD and USAID funding, including, who are 2 new donors for the mission and for SI in general. Finally, since 2022, an ECHO-funded project is underway in the Sahel (base of Sebba ) for a multisectoral EHA SAME response integrated into a health-nut response led by PUI.Since 2020 SI deploys cash transfer and voucher (Redrose) interventions under AAP and BHA funding mainly, but also Startfund. JOB DESCRIPTION

Objectives:

The person in charge of base-Logisticien.ne ensures the representation of International Solidarity by delegation of the Field Coordinator on the sub-base of Djibo.
It animates the life of the sub-base and ensures the good communication between the different services.
Referring safety on its area, it ensures contextual monitoring and’s ensures compliance by all rules and procedures Solidarity International.
As a log base, in functional connection with the logistics coordinator and under the supervision of the CT, he is responsible for the management of the logistics activities of the base, and, in compliance with the procedures of International Solidarity and donors

Main Challenges :

Develop a strategy to support program teams in hard-to-reach areas in good collaboration with the access/secu watch manager of the area.
Strengthen the management of the Djibo sub-base and relations between departments
Train and coach members of your logistics team
Support logistical coordination in the implementation of’achate strategies adapted to the context of blockade of the city of Djibo
Ensuring a good reporting

Priorities for the first 2/3 months :

In collaboration with the CTA Safely Access, mobilize and support the program teams to develop access to intervention areas
Support the field coordinator in strengthening the monitoring and security analysis in his area
Update the LFU from the base,
Train and bring the logistics team up to competence,
Set up a data backup and protection procedure
Set up all stock management tools and train the Log assistant.

YOUR PROFILE

Training and experience :

Bac+4/5 in Humanitarian Logistics or equivalent diploma
3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian field
2 Years of experience in an equivalent position
Previous experience in positions of basic manager, assistant CT, logistician in volatile security contexts essential

Technical skills and qualities sought :

Mastery of procedures and compliance issues donors
Good knowledge in procurement
Able to conduct ongoing activities and improve the quality of logistics management and reporting
Mastery of strategies and tools of secure management and strategies of’access in the zones of’activity of GOA, prior experience in the zone of the 3 borders highly appreciated
Competence in’ management capacity building team
’ initiative, rigor and autonomy
Strong pedagogical skills, transfer of skills, training.
Availability, flexibility, autonomy
Meaning of’organization and rigorous
Respect for local customs / Respect for safety rules

Languages :

Master of French orally and in writing ;
Mastery of the foulfouldé or a local language is a plus.

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

An employee position: According to experience, from 2365 EUR gross per month ( 2150 EUR basic salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly ) and a monthly Per Diem of EUR 550.

SI also covers accommodation and travel costs between the country of origin of the expatriate and the place of employment.

Breaks: During the mission, a work-study system is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months ( with USD 850 allocated by Solidarités International ). In addition to these break periods, there is an additional day of rest per month worked.

Social and medical coverage: Expatriates receive insurance that reimburses all health costs (including medical and surgical expenses, dental and ophthalmological care, etc, repatriation) and a contingency system including war risks. Vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are reimbursed.

Security constraints: The security and humanitarian context continues to deteriorate in general in Burkina Faso. The’humanitarian access continues to experience severe constraints in several areas, including our intervention areas.

CONDITIONS OF LIFE :

The position is based outside Ouagadougou and all expats outside Ouagadougou are accommodated at the Guest House.

For catering : cook available, frequentation of external restaurants dependent on the security context
