JOB SUMMARY

· To ensure that IRW Somalia develops and maintains strong and effective partnerships towards the implementation of our resource development and programmes growth Strategy. The incumbent shall represent IRS in donor engagement, external relations with an aim of strengthened networking, fundraising and portfolio growth.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

§ Ensures that the IRW-S Country Office develops and maintains positive and effective partnerships and purposeful relationships that are relevant to the implementation of the programme’s growth Strategy;

§ Promotes the vision and objectives of the IRW-S Strategic Plan to external and IR partners stakeholders

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

§ Develops and implements a Partnership Strategy that supports IRW fundraising Strategy and ensures the very best of relationships with partners, donors and others;

§ Ensures that all personnel understand the importance of the Partnership Strategy and how it relates to them, and that they are fully involved in its implementation;

§ Ensures excellent relations with key government partners, and put in place systems that maintain them;

§ Ensures effective engagement of strategic partners, especially UN groups and other institutional donors.

§ Develops strategic partnership-building approaches with government, Donor, Civil Society, Corporate, and IRW partners;

§ Supports, backstopping, guidance and training of IRW-S team/ staff in partnership matters at all levels;

§ Facilitates the strategic engagement with relevant International and National stakeholders on Humanitarian funding, resilience building, nexus support and related issues;

§ Maintains a database of information relating to Partners’ and , Donors’, individual requirements and goals, and such other details as relevant to the development and maintenance of those partnerships;

§ Develops and manages Memorandum Of Understandings as may arise from all other partner engagements

§ Lead in the development of CNs and proposal both as requested from IRW partners and other external donors

§ Lead assessment and research development for fundraising and publication of project lesson learned for future project development

§ Develop a webinar and engage IR team on a quarterly basis on the development results from our engagement with communities and stakeholders.

SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

§ Ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines.

§ Strong written and spoken communication skills, in English and Somali.

§ Skills and experience in engaging bilateral donors

QUALIFICATIONS

· University Degree in Business Management, Development and Humanitarian Studies, Law or related fields;

· Proven track record in successfully managing Inter-Institutional relations, preferably in the development and Humanitarian field;

· At least 6 years professional experience in Inter-Institutional relationship management; and

· Knowledge and experience of the realities of development issues, Donor Institutions, and the Not-for-Profit sector.

· Good command of English both in written and spoken

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

§ Minimum 6 year’s relevant experience in a similar position in an INGO/UN body.

§ Thorough knowledge of proposal development and project design for institutional donors

§ Must be a computer literate especially in MS Word and Excel.

Required skills and competencies

· Excellent understanding of development partnerships, fund-raising, donor strategies, functions and international relations;

· Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; local somali, Swahili, Arabic, French languages would be an added advantage;

· Excellent inter-personal skills, and ability to maintain strong relationships, Strong cross-cultural skills and versatility in dealing with different types of partnership;

· Personal integrity with an honest and open personal style;

· Approachable, with an ability to engage partners at all levels; and

· Adherence to Islamic Relief values, which are: Ikhlas (Sincerity), Adl(Social justice), Rahma(compassion), custodianship (Amana)**

Working relationship

Internal: Interacts with the IRW-S Fundraising and Partnership Coordinator and programmes Managers and MEAL on a daily basis.

External: Interacts with National Governmental Institutions, Non-Government Institutions, Academic Institutions, the media, donors, Specialists, Consultants and other Stakeholders**
