Position Description:

Social Impact is seeking a Business Development Assistant to the Business Development Unit (BDU or BD). The Assistant will support new business development efforts, including assisting proposal managers and proposal coordinators on live bids, providing research support during capture, supporting special initiatives, monitoring donor forecast and tracking new business opportunities. The Assistant will work under the supervision and direction of the Director of Business Development and under the direction of proposal managers for specific proposal related tasks.

Responsibilities:

Proposal Development:

  • Assist in the preparation of bid overview sheets, tracking the pursuit-decision process, and communicating bid results to technical and programmatic teams.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to proposal teams.
  • Support proposal development processes as assigned.
  • Support internal proposal team meetings by managing calendar invites, preparing accompanying documents, taking meeting notes, and following up on action items.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings/calls with external stakeholders or partners.
  • Provide support to assigned bids by conducting research, supporting proposal schedule, checking compliance, editing and formatting, and other proposal specific tasks.
  • Coordinate with other service areas involved in the proposal development as needed.
  • Provide logistical support related to consulting agreements and manage invoicing and payment of consultants.

Capture Planning:

  • Conduct research for capture, including analyzing competition and potential partners, background information on the client and current implementation efforts, country context, and other on-the-ground knowledge as assigned by the Proposal Manager .
  • Writing and contributing to capture plans as assigned by the Proposal Manager.
  • Support logistics for capture efforts by mobilizing travel (when relevant), submitting advance requests, processing expense reports, booking lodging, creating capture binders, identifying and setting up meetings with potential partners and consultants, etc.

Marketing:

  • Attend and coordinate BD opportunities such as partnering meetings, conferences, webinars, and other activities.
  • Draft capacity statements, coordinate revisions of past performance references and other documents.

Information Management, Logistics, and General Administration:

  • Coordinate BDU team meeting calendar and agenda.
  • Monitor donor forecasts and solicitation announcements and share the information with BDU colleagues.
  • Maintain BDU SharePoint page by updating it with new information and relevant documents.
  • Assist with regular maintenance of internal knowledge and data management systems on SharePoint.
  • Support BDU special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, including international relations, political science, communications, or another related field.
  • Ability to follow through on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral & written communications skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
