The Business Development Associate supports the organization’s BD systems and processes. This position has three primary areas of responsibility and support within BDG: 1) Proposal Production, 2) Process Management, and 3) Copy Editing and Graphic Design Support. This position reports to the Senior Director for Capture and Proposal Management.

Responsibilities

Proposal Production Support (80%): Prepare, coordinate, and conduct formatting activities for final proposal submissions. Work with proposal teams for timely completion of final outputs from the proposal team. Coordinate organizational signatures per proposal requirements and organization best practices. Serve as lead compiler of final proposal materials for submission. Complete final formatting of proposal materials based on branding requirements. Prepare and ensure proposal teams use proper proposal templates. Conduct formatting for other business development materials, as needed. Provide production support for project deliverables, as needed. Perform other duties as required to ensure timely and professional submission of proposals.

Copy Editing and Graphic Design Support (10%): Coordinate with the Communications & Outreach department to develop proposal covers and/or graphics. Provide high-quality copy-editing services on submissions to clients, as needed. Review final drafts and make edits to improve responsiveness to RFA/RFPs. Provide basic graphic design and/or editing support as needed, using Adobe Illustrator or other relevant applications.

Process Management Support (10%): Support business development processes by working with staff in BDG and other departments. Proactively identify process improvement needs and propose solutions. Draft and maintain job aids, as needed, related to BDG processes. Cross-train in other BD-related roles and activities, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in international development, international relations, communications, English, marketing, journalism, or related field required. Additional years of relevant experience may offset the requirement for an advanced degree. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in international development or related field; international experience preferred. Basic graphic design skills preferred. Sound presentation, writing and editing skills. Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro, Adobe Illustrator (or other similar applications), and Adobe Sign (e-sign software). Demonstrated experience with SharePoint and Teams. Strong interpersonal, communication, and proactive problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and in a team. Proven organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities. Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed, results-oriented environment at a fast pace. Fluency in English required; additional French and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.
