Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international humanitarian non-governmental organization that promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems of refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. Since 2014, DRC has been working in Ukraine with the goal of providing immediate support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the affected population in the east of the country.
DRC is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic professional to serve as Business Loans Specialist.
Overall purpose of the role
Under the supervision of Livelihoods Team Leader and the Livelihoods Programme Manager, contribute to the planning, implementation/coordination and follow up the economic development activities implemented by DRC livelihoods programme, with a special focus on exploration of the cooperation opportunities with the local banking and micro-finance institutions operating in eastern Ukraine. This role will also imply regular analysis and updates on the business loans situation in the region and their availability to the MSMEs.
Geographic scope: Base (Slovyansk)
This role has a base focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines at base level. The role contributes to the implementation and adherence to base strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. Occasional travel to other DRC field offices in Sievierodonetsk and Mariupol, as well as visits to Kyiv may be needed for successful implementation of the key tasks.
Main responsibilities
Programming & Operations
- Under the supervision of LLH Team Leader and LLH Manager, ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan
- Engagement with the local financial institutions and analysis of available loan resources in eastern Ukraine for MSME development
- Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports for donors
- Carry out monitoring and evaluation exercises
Coordination and representation
• Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts / colleagues on grant component implementation issues
Project development
- Co-implement project plans and budgets for funding
- Use projects tools
- Project implementation and reporting in accordance to instructions provided by LLH Team Leader and LLH Manager
- Monitor and evaluate projects
- Produce analytical papers and reports, especially with regards to available financial products in eastern Ukraine
Supervisor responsibilities:
- Does not have direct line management responsibility for staff.

Required experience and competencies:
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience in the economic development field, business and/or in the finance sector, such as private companies, banks ormicro-loan institutions
- Experience and working with MSMEs
- Good knowledge of key office programmes
- Advanced English proficiency
- Fluency in Ukrainian
Required education
Relevant university degree (e.g. banking and finance, economics) or equivalent professional qualification.
