Job Description

The Business Strategy and Risk Lead sits in SNV’s Global Risk and Compliance (R&C) Team. The Global R&C Team steers, coordinates, and monitors the organisation’s governance, risk, and compliance environment.

Key responsibilities

Project and Governance Management

  • prepare and coordinate key documentation of SNV’s strategic initiative for Alternative Revenue Stream development, with collaboration from other teams
  • Initiate peer learning, collect relevant information and advice and report to global heads on the risks and opportunities of strategic choices.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate governance structures, processes, and coordination mechanisms for the initiative
  • Act as a thought-partner to global heads and global teams in the development of SNV business strategy.

Performance and risk reporting

  • Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders across global functions, sectors, and country teams to identify inefficiencies and gaps in current reporting processes.
  • Develop and implement a framework (including process and templates) to address identified inefficiencies and optimize/standardize reporting workflows
  • Oversee and coordinate the regular delivery of integrated performance reporting.
  • Create standard procedures where required, to enable continuity of global functions reporting processes.

Other responsibilities are around Risks Framework and Governance Operations, where you design, develop and implement an Enterprise/Integrated Risk Management Framework across SNV, in collaboration with internal stakeholders. This together with providing advisory, tools, documents, and trainings to internal stakeholders on risk and governance issues and annually, you will update internal frameworks with internal audit. Under guidance and direction of the Global Head, Risk and Compliance you’ll support team strategy planning, coordination, and other tasks as required.

Qualifications

You are a curious, strategic thinker with at least 7 years of relevant and demonstrable change management leadership experience in developing new programs and business processes across the organization. Preferably in the commercial sector related to strategy, project management, finance, governance, risk, compliance, legal and/or tax.

You have a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Business, Management, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field or level of knowledge gained through relevant work experience.

As we are an international organisation, Fluency in English and excellent cross-cultural business communication skills (written and verbal) are essential, together with demonstrable experience designing and preparing documents for senior audiences and decision-makers.

Also, key is to be a self-driven and self-motivated organizer with strong organization and project-management skills. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to synthetize large volumes of information and complex business situations into their main trends, causes, drivers, and impact, providing actionable insights for decision making.

What is desired, but not a must:

  • Direct experience in strategy management, enterprise-level reporting, risk management, and communications management
  • Proficiency with Data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
  • French Language proficiency
  • Familiarity with the iNGO sector
  • Willingness and ability to travel to SNV operating countries on occasion.
