Position Description:
SI is seeking technical writers and advisors to contribute to new business proposals to implement projects with various clients, particularly USAID and the US DoS. We seek technical writers to draft proposals on monitoring and evaluation (both performance and impact evaluations), assessments, research, knowledge management, and learning.
Assignments will vary in duration but will typically last from four-eight weeks. This consultancy may include trips to the field to gather intelligence from donors, stakeholders, and local partners and personnel. Candidates will preferably be based in the Washington, D.C area.
Responsibilities:
- Write technical sections of the proposal;
- Participate in proposal review rounds and revisions;
- Lead and substantially contribute to discussions on the strategic approach for the proposal in the aforementioned subject-areas;
- Suggest and provide feedback on partnering, personnel, budgeting, and other strategies for the proposal; and
- Assist in the identification, vetting, and selection of candidates, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Minimum (5) years of experience working in international development, preferably in the realm of monitoring and evaluation;
- Ability to synthesize inputs from various stakeholders involved in the proposal development process;
- In-depth understanding of international development issues, particularly of the organization and operation of US DoS and/or USAID;
- Proven track record (as demonstrated by winning proposals) writing high quality technical sections or approaches for USAID and other donors;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; and
- English language fluency.
