Cell Supply Referent At Médecins Sans Frontières

BACKGROUND

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent, neutral, impartial humanitarian organisation that provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. MSF assistance to people is based solely on their needs, irrespective of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation.

At the heart of the Department of Operations of the MSF Geneva Operational Centre (OCG), the “Cells” are the direct interface from headquarters to the field missions under their responsibility. Each member of the Cell is in charge of a specific component under the supervision (functional link) of a Program Responsible, with a hierarchical link with the coordinator of the corresponding service in the mission.

POSITION

The Cell Supply Referent is the first line support to field and Cell team for all subject related to the Supply chain. She/he is also ensuring the link between the different department, MSF Log, the Supply chain Unit, the cell and the field for every Supply chain issue.

She/he act as the 1st line of emergency support for the Cell missions and can be available for E-cell emergencies if planning allows. The Cell supply referent will also be the main supply focal point for the E-cell, MSF Log, MSF supply and intersectional discussions when needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Cell 5 Operations Logistics Referent, the scope of responsibilities include but are not limited to:

– Support to emergencies with on-the-ground support during emergency responses upon request.
– First line of supply support to Cell’s missions.
– Ensure the logistic fundamentals (Supply part) are in place for the missions supported by Cell 5.
– Assess the missions in depth to identify gap within the MSF Supply Chain standard and competencies.
– Define along with the missions, Cell and HQ referents an action plan to support improvement of the country Supply Chain.
