BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
Created in 1951, IOM is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and works in close collaboration with government, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM works to promote human and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Launched in September 2022, with funding from the European Union, the Protection Program, Return and Reintegration of Migrants ( MPRR ) allows migrants who decide to return voluntarily to their country of origin to do so in a safe and dignified manner, with full respect for international human rights standards and the principle of non-refoulement.
In close partnership with state and non-state actors, the project provides assistance to returnees to help them rebuild their lives in their country of origin through an integrated approach to reintegration that seeks to meet economic needs, social and psychosocial of returnees.
It is in this context that the IOM recruits, a ( e ) consultant ( e ) in support of data collection for monitoring and evaluation activities of the MPRR project.
DESCRIPTION OF THE POST
1. Tasks to be carried out under the contract
a ) Conduct telephone surveys with returned migrants to measure their level of satisfaction with assistance for voluntary return and reintegration;
b ) Collect, compile, monitor and deal with any complaints from migrants;
c ) Carry out field visits according to the needs identified by the project monitoring and evaluation team ;
d ) Ensure that all questionnaires are saved in the tablets and sent to the IOM database ;
e ) Ensure that the monthly data collection targets are met ;
f ) Assist program staff in the planning and implementation of surveys by participating in the collection and cleaning of data ;
g ) Support program staff in the compilation of monthly and interim reports by providing precise and up-to-date data in a timely manner;
h ) Know and respect the IOM data protection standards ;
i ) Perform all other related tasks as requested by the supervisor.
2. Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
- KOBO surveys completed according to needs and the quota defined monthly ;
- Monthly analysis of the data collected ;
- Weekly reports on collected surveys and recommendations for monitoring vulnerable cases among reintegration and protection colleagues ;
- Field missions prepared and carried out ( if necessary ).
PROFILE
Education
- University Diploma in Social Sciences, Statistics, Economy, an accredited academic institution[ 1 ] or in a related field, with 02 ( two ) years of relevant professional experience or ;
- Secondary school leaving certificate / certificate with 04 ( four ) years of relevant professional experience.
Experiences
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects ;
- Good editorial and proofreading capacity ;
- Experience in data collection desired, in particular the maintenance / focus group with migrants is an asset ;
- Experience in the use of tablets and / or Kobo Collect, ODK Collect is an advantage.
Languages
- Excellent oral and written command of French ;
- A good knowledge of a local language would be an asset.
