The Opportunity
Supervising and mentoring the implementation of the CP activities in the in urban (non – camp) IDP areas in Shirgat.
The CP-Officer will supervise and mentor implementing partners to develop and execute activities as set in their work plans.
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
Program Planning and Implementation:
* Implement Child Protection activities under the programme.
* With support from the programme team, develop, implement and monitor quarterly, monthly and weekly activity plans to achieve expected results. This includes planning of activities, and procurement.
* Under the direct supervision of Programme Coordinator and management of the Programme Manager ensure that all planned CP activities are implemented on time, coordinated with the Education and WASH officers, are within the budget, according to quality standards and as per the monthly work plan.
* Where challenges arise, ensure that these are flagged early, communicated to the Programme Coordinator, and if necessary, to Programme Manager and addressed in an appropriate way.
* Lead in the preparation of all procurement and administrative documents required for program implementation.
* Work with child protection and education committees and support monthly meetings to map protection risks in the community and feedback for program improvement.
* Provide follow-up support to child protection training in coordination with the Education officer and the programme team.
* Coordinate with the education officer and WASH staff members to ensure Child Friendly Space (CFS) activities are integrated and follow best-practices for children.
* Ensure all CP concerns identified are communicated in timely manner for response to the Programme Coordinator and Programme Manager.
Staff Supervision and Mentorship:
* Mentor CFS Facilitators as well as Community Mobilizers ensuring that they achieve their performance objectives and program results.
* Conduct performance reviews for staff; support them to set performance objectives.
* Identify any implementing partner needs, including capacity building needs and coordinate closely with the Programme Manager to support them.
* Coordinate and provide capacity building training to Save the Children staff and implementation partners.
* Maintain close working relationship with partner staff to provide adequate support.
Monitoring and Reporting:
* Together with the Education Officer, assist with monitoring of CFS operations and activities for program quality.
* Together with the Education Officer, ensure that all program data is properly and regularly collected and input in the CFS databases and other reporting tools.
* Contribute to the preparation of internal reports.
* Support MEAL Officer, Programme Coordinator and Programme Manager in the submission of weekly Situation Report (SITREP), and data entry according to monitoring and evaluation system.
* Participate in and contribute to weekly programme team meetings.
* Work with implementing partners and the MEAL Officer to ensure CFS data is collected in a timely manner and reflects progress and areas of improvement.
Collaboration and Representation:
* Regularly coordinate and collaborate with the programme team to strengthen implementation and impact for children.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
* University degree and one year of relevant CP area work experience.
* Proven ability to work as part of a team.
* Strong understanding of the situation of children in the community and demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of children in the community.
* Proven technical knowledge and skills in the field of CP.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills, ethical sensitivity and ability to empathise with children and their carers.
* Ability to supervise and mentor staff to achieve results.
* Ability to travel independently and work long hours.
* Previous experience working with non-profit organizations is preferred.
* Good spoken and written English, and Arabic or Kurdish.
* Good computer skills (MS Office, including Outlook for email).
* Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
