OFFER SUMMARY :
Under the responsibility of the regional PCV manager, the cooperating person will carry out their mandate with the partner organization in order to ensure the implementation of capacity building activities within the framework of the voluntary cooperation program. The volunteer advisor will be required to advise, assist and technically support the team of the partner organization in their reflections, services and programs so that they guarantee respect for the rights of the child. The person holding the position also contributes to the development of reports and communication articles related to the activities developed and implemented during their mandate.
RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Ensure the completion of PCV program implementation activities and the establishment of relationships of trust with the partner organization;
- Analyze approaches and proposals for public and institutional policies in favor of children and adolescents in vulnerable situations and/or in contact with the law;
- Support the partner organization in carrying out advocacy, awareness-raising and defense of the interests of the target audience;
- Support legal research work and assist in the drafting of documents on children’s rights and international humanitarian law relating to children and adolescents, as well as the drafting of documents to be presented before national courts or tribunals. International organizations;
- Contribute to the preparation of legal analysis on access to justice and the State’s response regarding children in vulnerable situations;
- Support the partner organization in revising or implementing support protocols for child victims of situations of abuse or exploitation so that they guarantee respect for their rights;
- Support the organization and delivery of training workshops for civil society and government officials;
- Support the organization and delivery of training activities that promote the approach of gender equality in the organization’s interventions with children and adolescents in conflict with the law and/or in situations of vulnerability;
- Support the organization in activities related to the Social Laboratory;
- Participate in the initial mapping of actors and updating the profile of the child protection system in the country of intervention;
- If necessary, support the strengthening of the partner organization in terms of work organization, information management, communication and other activities related to their expertise;
- Write progress reports on the activities implemented in collaboration with the partner organization;
- Write articles on the work carried out and on the experience of voluntary cooperation;
*The responsibilities are given as an example and may differ from the developed mandate that will be proposed to the candidate. All mandates are developed with partners on the basis of expressed needs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Requirements
- Have permanent residence or Canadian nationality;
- Hold a university degree in law or any other studies related to human rights;
- Minimum of 2 years of significant work experience in functions related to children’s rights, human rights training, and/or advocacy;
- Knowledge of and interest in children’s rights, with an emphasis on the child protection system and access to justice for minors;
- Mastery of French, both written and spoken. The person must be able to write, revise, comment on and correct texts in French and, for mandates in Central and South America, mastery of Spanish, both written and spoken;
- Ability to prepare and conduct training, and provide recommendations;
- Ability to analyze, organize and synthesize
- Mastery of new information technologies
- Great ability to work in a team while being autonomous in one’s work
- Mastery of the Microsoft Office 2010 suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and great adaptation skills
