OFFER SUMMARY

The International Bureau for Children’s Rights (IBCR), a Canadian NGO dedicated to the protection and promotion of children’s rights, is seeking, as part of its voluntary cooperation program, an advisor in child management. project and mobilization of resources to support its partners in Burkina Faso.

Through this mandate, share your skills and expertise in order to advise, support, and technically train the team of the partner organization in the implementation of procedures and tools aimed at ensuring the safeguarding of the child in order to support them in the implementation of their missions. The mandate includes strengthening strategies, developing and revising tools and supporting the implementation of action plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The volunteer will be responsible for:

  • Support partners in:
  • Carrying out a diagnosis of the situation of the partners in accordance with the principles and adapted methods of safeguarding the child
  • The development of child safeguarding tools and monitoring the implementation and application of these tools by professionals working within partners
  • Carrying out training for professionals, stakeholders and members working with partners in child safeguarding
  • Carrying out self-assessment processes and reviewing their child safeguarding policies and procedures;
  • Strengthening the capacities of partners to ensure monitoring and evaluation of new practices put in place related to child safeguarding

Other missions linked to the PCV project:

  • Support the organization of Social Laboratory activities
  • Write progress reports on activities carried out during the mandate
  • Participate in the promotion of international volunteering in Canada by participating in the IBCR’s communication efforts (writing articles or blog posts on the volunteering experience, videos, interviews, events, etc.) during and after the mandate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIREMENTS:

Technical skills :

  • Hold a study diploma in a field related to the mandate or training related to child protection and/or safeguarding
  • Minimum of 2 years of significant work experience in functions related to the mandate
  • Experience in organizing and hosting events, an asset
  • Experience in developing and managing partnerships
  • Perfect command of written and spoken French
  • Excellent writing skills in French and Spanish. The recruited person must be able to write, revise, comment on and correct texts in French and Spanish.
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and the tools of the Outlook environment (Teams, mail, SharePoint, Forms, etc.) and Google (Google Docs, Google Drive, Gmail, etc.).

  • Great adaptability and ability to be flexible in the face of change
  • Excellent interpersonal and participatory skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • Ability to plan work, establish priorities, multitask and be proactive
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and gender equality
  • Promotion of a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the partner organization team and among other volunteers

About the PCV program

The Comprehensive Child Rights Project (PCV) , implemented by the International Bureau for Children’s Rights (IBCR), aims to improve the well-being and protection of children, particularly girls, as well as the promotion of their rights throughout the world, in a sustainable manner.

Lasting seven years (2020-2027), this project is part of the Canadian Volunteer Cooperation Program and will allow more than 250 professional volunteers to be deployed in 11 countries.

By sharing the skills of these volunteers and qualified mentors with a network of committed partners, the PCV contributes to strengthening child protection in the countries in which it is present.
