Established in 1922, DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish rights-based non-governmental organization. Established in CAR since 2015, DCA provides assistance to the poorest communities in conflict and post-conflict situations through its Humanitarian Action Program “Safer Communities”: education on the risks of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), Explosive Remnants of War (ERW); Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) and peacebuilding & Psychosocial Support, Income Generating Activities (IGA); distribution of non-food and household items (NFI), conditional and unconditional cash (food vouchers, etc.), distribution of seeds and tools, support to Civil Society organizations for their involvement in the Security Sector Reform (SSR). The DCA Programme in CAR is funded by DANIDA, the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund, Echo, the European Union; other funding is currently being negotiated.
DCA is looking for 01 Team Leader with specialty in Civic Space/Human Rights who is experienced to participate in the development and implementation of peacebuilding and psychological support activities in the Central African Republic.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Civic and Human Rights Team Leader will provide his/her technical expertise to DCA as part of the intervention ” Pathways to Empowerment: Advancing the Participation of Marginalized Youth to Promote a Peaceful and Democratic Culture in the Central African Republic ” funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF), but may also support other DCA projects and activities in the CAR. He/She is familiar with the IASC (Inter-Agency Standing Committee) Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Situations and knows how to adapt these technical guidelines to the needs and constraints on the ground. He/She is familiar with the “Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” approach.
Under the leadership of the clinical psychologist and in perfect collaboration with the stakeholders (Assistant Project Manager, partners), the Team Leader will contribute to all stages of the project cycle and ensure the proper monitoring of beneficiaries in all intervention locations.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitoring and coordination:
– Monitor the humanitarian situation and psychosocial data
-Participate in humanitarian coordination mechanisms (OCHA, clusters, working groups, national authorities, etc.) and represent DCA there if necessary
-Ensure that DCA works in collaboration with the Technical Services of the RCA and that good relations are maintained
-Ensure that DCA interventions are consistent and complementary with those of other actors on the ground
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
- Develop educational resources and teaching tools on human rights and civic space.
- Developing youth leadership and advocacy skills.
- Support young people in their engagement in dialogue and consultation activities with the authorities and other civil society actors.
- Collect data on activities carried out with young people.
- Conduct analyses on the impact of activities carried out with young people.
- Write reports on activities carried out with young people.
- Contributes to the updating of the community-based monitoring and evaluation system etc.
- Contribute to the establishment of the virtual system and documentation of human rights violations and provide legal assistance to beneficiaries to specialized centers
- Ensures the participation of young people in project activities, from development to evaluation
- Supports the Project Manager on technical (psychosocial) issues in the development of project documents, such as concept notes, donor proposals, etc.
- Provides technical monitoring of the project “ Pathways to Empowerment: Advancing the Participation of Marginalized Youth to Promote a Peaceful and Democratic Culture in the Central African Republic ” in collaboration with the project manager and psychosocial assistants in the implementation of monitoring-evaluation plans and data collection according to the specific project deadlines.
REPORTING AND WRITING:
In collaboration with the assistant project manager and the psychologist, prepare technical activity reports, progress reports, and other project documentation.
- Contribute to the drafting of reports and other relevant documents.
- Work with other DCA teams to ensure integration and consistency of different program components
- Participate in the implementation of peacebuilding, civic space and human rights activities
Implementation of Safe Spaces using a community-based, sustainable approach. Ensure good involvement, collaboration and coordination of local partners, State technical services and local authorities.
Provide skills and technical assistance to beneficiaries, implementing partners and/or DCA national staff with emphasis on accountability policy and practices.
Develop the monitoring plan and monitor the implementation of projects
Preparation of internal reports and reports to donors

REQUIRED SKILLS:
- University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in law, sociology, peacebuilding, development or other relevant field
- Have proven experience in leadership in youth and civic spaces
- Fluent in French and Sango with excellent writing skills
- Experience in evaluation in human rights protection, youth participation in democratic processes
- Experience working with international organizations and in the same field.
- Experience with projects integrating peacebuilding and protection, livelihoods, advocacy, vocational training is an asset
- Experience working with national and international organizations required;
- Good knowledge of the Central African Republic;
- Be able to work in a team;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Be of Central African nationality.
CONTRACT DURATION:
Contract type: Fixed-term contract
Duration: Twelve (12 ) months with possibility of renewal
