CLA/MEL Lead At Chemonics

Chemonics International seeks a CLA/MEL Lead for the upcoming USAID-funded Egypt EconomyPlus Activity. The project will seek to improve the resilience of Egypt’s economy by assisting concerned Government of Egypt institutions to address selected macroeconomic challenges, with macroeconomic resilience defined as the ability of countries to withstand shocks and recover quickly towards potential growth. The CLA/MEL Lead will report to the Chief of Party and support activity design and technical implementation to achieve the project outcomes.

This position will be based in Cairo. We are looking for dynamic individuals with a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate progress towards achieving results, establishing benchmarks for performance over the life of the project.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of the MEL Plan, including the approach for collecting, evaluating, and validating data to measure overall progress towards project indicators.
  • Lead a team of cross-cutting experts to ensure coordination between activity objectives and integration of cross-cutting issues throughout project activities.
  • Support the communications team in the use of data in the development of project highlights and success stories.
  • Work closely with project leadership to ensure that lessons learned are integrated into the design and implementation of new interventions.
  • Create, organize, and submit contractually required MEL reports.
  • Stay up to date with USAID’s evaluation policy, continually adapting to meet changing reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural or social science research, climate science, social services, international development, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least five years of demonstrated experience in project evaluation, preferably on donor-funded projects.
  • Ability to convey results to non-technical stakeholders, and to generate interest in the use of MEL results.
  • Experience and familiarity with data collection databases and mobile data collection, including strong computer skills for all data collection programs.
  • Strong understanding of the country context and key stakeholders required.
  • Demonstrated integrity, versatility, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English required. Arabic fluency required as well.
