Clinical Supervisor – Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

Grade Level : 14

Work Location : Kakuma

Purpose of Position

To Provide Clinical Supervision and technical guidance to ensure effective implementation of mental health and psychosocial support, GPM+ which will also include supervision of PM+ trainer of trainers.

To effectively communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others.

Major Responsibilities

Supervision for Mental Health GPM+, and Trainer of Trainers (ToTs), in accordance with project targets 50%

· Planning and implementation of the project

· Facilitate weekly supervisions for CHWs

· Grant interventions implemented within schedule and regular review of project status

· Conduct in class and infield competency assessments for CHWs

· Conduct randomized fidelity checks for CHWs

· Capacity building of CHWs on GPM+ and Basic Helping Skills

· Ensure care and safety of clients is being upheld and safety risks are adequately responded to

· Provide materials for supervision sessions to the CHWs

Monitoring, reporting and Documentation 25% **

· Ensure completion of CHW client tracking and supervision forms

· Ensure completion of data and its timely data entry

· Timely Submission of quality project reports

· Development of a Referral Directory for clients

· Monitor and report serious adverse events

· Maintain updated records of weekly supervision sessions

· Identify and document promising practices

· Convene forums for sharing and learning on MHPSS interventions

Capacity Building 10%

· Prepare all training materials

· Capacity building of CHWs in Basic Helping Skills and GPM+/PM+

· Lead capacity building initiatives for communities and partners

· Facilitate training for the Ministry of Health TOTs

Engagement and Networking 10%

· Effective representation of WVK in key stakeholder forums

· Provide Clinical Supervision to Implementing Partners TOTs

· Ensure close collaboration with key Government Line Ministries

· Work closely with the county to develop a supervision model for CHWs

Other duties 5%

Perform any other duty as may be assigned by supervisor or designee from time to time

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Bachelor’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology,

· 4 years working experience in mental health and psychosocial support, one of which has to be at a supervisory level

· Registered with Kenya Association of Professional Counselors

· Trainer of Trainers in Problem Management Plus and Psychological First AID

· Clinical experience at community level, either in a research or clinical capacity

· Prior experience in community research and stakeholder’s engagement

· Good computer skills in MS office (Excel, word, PowerPoint).

· Must understand task-shifting approaches in order to build capacity in community health workers

· Must show flexibility and openness to different psychological modalities

· Good understanding of how psychological interventions are delivered and the practice of working with lay helpers

· Excellent oral and written communications in Kiswahili and English and relationship skills

· Training and experience in implementation in WHO Low Intensity psychological intervention like Problem Management Plus is an added advantage.
