The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) is a global membership network of civil society organizations around the world advocating for a fair, effective, and independent International Criminal Court (ICC). Through a core commitment to the rule of law and justice, the CICC is focused on results and long-term systemic change in the fight for global justice for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. The CICC’s 26-year track record has yielded a unique role and standing at the ICC, the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute (ASP), with governments around the world as well as other relevant stakeholders, representing real partnership between political structures and civil society that is largely unprecedented at the global level.

Remote volunteer
The volunteer will be provided with on-the-job experience in a global non-profit, non-governmental organization. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to:
- Gain valuable experience in the non-profit sector;
- Gain skills in effective team working;
- Gain strategic treaty body and governmental advocacy experience with particular emphasis on the ICC, including at the 20th session of the ICC Assembly of States Parties in December 2021 (virtual);
- Build and expand the professional network;
- Work in a young, multicultural, and dynamic work environment.
The volunteer will assist the team of the CICC International Secretariat with a variety of tasks, including:
- Attending and reporting from intergovernmental meetings, civil society meetings, other;
- Providing support with translations of internal communications, articles and external communications (from and to French and/or Spanish) and with writing and editing (English, French and/or Spanish);
- Providing support with the monitoring of developments at the ICC, and international and regional organizations, and carry out specific research, as relevant;
- Assisting with internal/external meeting preparation, including arranging conference calls, coordinating logistics, preparing materials, including for the 20th session of the ASP, etc.;
- Assisting with other tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate student with or advanced undergraduate student working towards a degree in Law, International Relations, Political Science, Human Rights, or related field;
- Knowledge of the ICC and Rome Statute system;
- Strong writing skills and excellent English essential;
- Fluency in French and/or in Spanish required, fluency in both will be a distinctive advantage;
- Ability to work independently and within the constraints of tight deadlines;
- Effective team player with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Remotely available on a part time or full-time basis, until mid-December 2021, as a minimum.
