Communication and Social Media Assistant At International Organization for Migration

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean, Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, Representative to the Holy See, and the direct supervision of the Spokesperson/Communication Focal Point, the incumbent will act as Communication and Social Media Assistant in the implementation of Public Information activities for IOM Italy, supporting the strengthening of the social media activities and the implementation of an efficient digital communication strategy.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Support the execution of successful communication activities with the purpose of achieving IOM Italy’s objectives, according to IOM communication guidelines and media approach.
  2. Assist in the implementation of social media strategies to deliver against Key Performance Indicators and in managing IOM Italy’s social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, among others.
  3. Assist in the drafting and updating of editorial plans in line with IOM Italy’s overall communication strategy.
  4. Assist in monitoring performance of communication activities, drafting reports and implementing improvement actions.
  5. Assist in coordinating activities necessary to implement information campaigns.
  6. Assist in designing and disseminating, public information materials (TV/Radio spots, public announcements, etc.).
  7. Support the production of printing documents, posters, reports, flyers, brochures, etc. on IOM’s activities, according to IOM rules and instructions.
  8. Draft or translate content (e.g. press releases) in English and Italian to be reviewed and used by the Spokesperson.
  9. Assist in facilitating internal communication within IOM Units in Italy, as well as with other IOM offices and among IOM colleagues in the field.
  10. Assist the Spokesperson and the thematic experts in the IOM office in Italy, in organizing public information activities in English and Italian meant to promote the visibility of the various projects and initiatives at the national, regional and global level.
  11. Any other duties that might be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

University degree in Political or Social Sciences, Public-Media Relations, Journalism, Communication, Law and/or International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Good drafting, writing and reporting skills.
  • Experience in web and Social Media content creation, and in developing Social Media strategies.
  • Experience in video editing and in creating graphic content is considered an advantage.

Skills

  • Knowledge of major migration dynamics/context in the Mediterranean.
  • Advanced computer literacy: proficiency in using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Office 365.
  • Good knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other graphic tools desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously as part of a team of colleagues of diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage time and resources efficiently to meet goals and timelines and produce quality results and products.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Italian is essential (oral and written).
  • Proficiency in French and/or Arabic is considered an advantage.
