CONTEXT
ADMINISTRATIVE:
This function is part of the Partnerships and Communication unit and the post holder will be under the supervision of the Partnerships Officer. The incumbent at this level must demonstrate responsibility and initiative to answer questions independently when only given general guidance. He must use judgment to manage unforeseen events on a daily basis.
OBJECTIVES ATTACHED TO THE POSITION:
Provide research and specialized communications services that facilitate the creation of content and services aimed at maintaining and strengthening the awareness and reputation of WFP and supporting fundraising activities.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (indicative and non-exhaustive list):
- Carry out specialized communications operations and activities to assist staff in developing, organizing, conducting and disseminating campaigns aimed at specific audiences.
- Conduct research, propose ideas and assist with coordination, to ensure efficient and timely execution of video/film, photography and radio projects. Manage the storage and distribution of audiovisual media in accordance with applicable policies.
- Play the role of coordinator and support or coordinate media coverage of events, in order to optimize publicity around WFP activities.
- Organize and deliver events in close collaboration with colleagues, external partners and media to ensure that events are scheduled and advertised effectively and reach a wide audience.
- Monitor traditional and social media and provide management with information that can be used to develop or evaluate communications activities and strategies.
- Develop, in accordance with the guidance received, content for traditional and social media platforms and networks as well as printed materials to expand coverage of and support for WFP activities, ensuring consistency with institutional messages.
- Disseminate and promote communications guidelines to WFP staff that they can refer to when creating content.
- Manage updates and continue development of internal files and databases to ensure information is accurate, structured and accessible.
- Respond to technical questions and requests for assistance using initiative and following standard procedures to quickly and accurately handle all requests for information.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure harmonized and consistent service and find opportunities for collaboration and integration of procedures and activities.
- Improve communication methods and practices to more effectively inform the media and stakeholders about WFP activities.
- Any other task as defined by the supervisor.
Desired experience in multimedia journalism, photography, videography, visual storytelling. In addition, good writing skills are required.

EXPERIENCE WANTED :
- Six or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications
- Demonstrated ability to perform routine communications, videography and photography techniques and activities in accordance with WFP operational standards as part of daily work.
- Demonstrate a sense of responsibility, responsiveness and initiative to react and/or act independently with minimal supervision and general guidance.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF STUDY REQUIRED:
Formation:
Holder of a baccalaureate and/or a university certificate in the field of communication, journalism, human sciences, or any other related field.
Languages:
Excellent level of French and English.
