Communication Assistant – Kabul, Afghanistan (National) At Geneva Call

Mission

Geneva Call is a neutral and impartial non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting respect for international humanitarian norms in armed conflict and other situations of violence. Geneva Call is currently focusing its efforts on banning the use of anti-personnel mines, protecting children from the effects of armed conflict, prohibiting sexual violence in armed conflict and the protection of the medical mission.

Role

Reporting to the Communication Coordinator, the Communication and Designing Assistant is responsible and accountable for designing and production of all GC communications and visibility materials. He/she will support the program team in the organization of the event and take photos and videos. And as well update the social media accounts.

Core responsibilities

  • Designs of Billboard, Banner, Brochure, Flyer, Leaflet, Newsletter, publicity handout, direct mail leaflet, and multimedia printing programs;
  • Prepare design plan, concept, and layout for printing materials;
  • Prepare rough drafts of designs and present ideas;
  • Design the requested video, poster, or image for online, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and mobile platforms;
  • Update photo and video database;
  • Produce accurate and high-quality work;
  • Assist in coordinating events;
  • Assist in conducting awareness-raising campaigns, events, information dissemination workshops, etc. for target groups;
  • Actively participate and assist events organized by GC;
  • Take professional photos and videos at the events;
  • Write success stories about GC’s work in Afghanistan;
  • Assisting with any other aspects of the Society’s media work as directed by the Communication Coordinator;
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Main qualification

Education

  • High-level Communication and designing skills;
  • University degree in journalism or fine arts;
  • Must have 4 years of experience in Communication and Designing;
  • Must have the professional knowledge of Abobe programs (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe in Design, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effect, Adobe Premiere Pro);
  • Familiar with taking photographs and getting acquainted with photo editing software;
  • Familiar with professional video graphing, films, and video editing software.

Work experience

The candidate must have work experience in the following categories:

  • 4 year of work experience in Designing of printing materials;
  • Proven experience of photo and videography;
  • Proven experience of video and photo editing;
  • Experience of event management;
  • Experience of social media campaigns;
  • Highly creative and innovative;
  • Accuracy and details oriented;
  • Be able to meet the deadlines;
  • Good drawing and layout skills.

Technical skills

  • Ability to design high quality printing and visual materials;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Developed planning and organizing experience;
  • Mature and responsible approach;
  • Ability to design and produce communication and public outreach materials;
  • Ability to bring innovative ideas of design and communication;
  • Ability to use the graphic designing programs;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet the deadlines;
  • Have team-working skills;
  • Strong time planning and organizing skills;
  • Basic advocacy style writting skills (blogs, feature stories etc.).

Languages

  • Fluency in local languages Pashto and Dari.
  • Good written and spoken English.
