Communication Officer At Farsight Africa Group

Job Summary:

The Communication Officer will be responsible for leading initiatives to raise awareness on critical themes and topics within governmental and nongovernmental organizations. The incumbent will utilize their extensive experience and expertise to drive impactful communication strategies, foster stakeholder engagement, and advocate for change on a local, national, and international level.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning and Implementation:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive awareness and advocacy strategies.
    • Identify key themes and topics requiring heightened public and governmental awareness.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
    • Facilitate partnerships and collaborative efforts to amplify advocacy initiatives.
  3. Communication and Media Outreach:
    • Craft compelling messages and narratives to support awareness campaigns.
    • Utilize various media channels to disseminate information and engage target audiences.
  4. Project Management:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of awareness projects.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  5. Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct research to support advocacy positions and strategies.
    • Monitor and analyze trends, policies, and issues relevant to the advocacy themes.
  6. Training and Capacity Building:
    • Design and deliver training programs to enhance advocacy skills within the organization and among partners.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Communication, Media and Journalism, Political Science, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Science, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working within the related disciplines with governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
  • Proven experience in at least 5 similar prior assignments in raising awareness of serious related themes/topics.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative and multicultural environment.

  • Proficiency in developing and managing advocacy campaigns.
