Communications and Advocacy Officer- AVCD/ Basque Project (Nationals Only)

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Communications and Advocacy Officer is responsible for developing and implementing the communications and advocacy plan of the project to optimize the impact for children. S/he shares in the responsibility towards bringing about changes in the policies, programs, systems and practices of duty bearers, stakeholders’ community, children and other target groups in the project areas. S/he supports in building the profile of Save the Children Philippines ensuring that the organization’s experience and expertise are well communicated and consistently presented in the project and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao (BARMM). S/he is also responsible in leading the development of advocacy and communications/visibility materials using different platforms, in close collaboration with the project team and partners.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in journalism, development communication or other related fields
  • At least 3 years of experience in doing communications and media work, preferably with a development NGO
  • Good understanding of BARMM development issues and how various social, economic and political issues affect children
  • Strong analytical and conceptualization skills and ability to think strategically
  • Ability to work on own initiative to build on and develop the job, combined with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills; developed capacity for tact, diplomacy and negotiation
  • Highly developed writing skills; able to write press releases, letters to the editor, country briefs, etc.
  • Proven ability to design effective communication products, lead formulation of communication messages and strategies
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with the media, other civil society organizations, and networks
  • Good program management skills
  • Highly organized, with good attention to detail and developed ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines and organize work
  • Proven experience of using MS office application (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and desktop publishing software, knowledge and skill in video making/editing and graphic design a plus.
  • Must have a high sense of urgency and a well-developed work ethics.
  • Ability to effectively perform a range of tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with a commitment to high quality work

Willingness to travel and commitment to work with and for children

Contract length: Fixed Term position until October 31, 2022 based in Cotabato City
