CRS’ relief and development work is accomplished through programs of emergency response, HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance and peacebuilding.

Country Background
CRS Philippines was established in 1945 and is the longest-running CRS country program in the world. Currently, CRS Philippines focuses its work on peacebuilding, emergency response, disaster risk reduction, and homes and communities. The Philippines country program has more than 150 staff with a main office in Manila and sub-offices in Davao and Tacloban. CRS programs are implemented through a national network of partners, in close coordination with local, municipal and national government agencies. The Country Program also provides support to CRS’s work in Indonesia, Timor Leste, and the Federated States of Micronesia, and has drawn international recognition for the impact, timeliness, and innovation of its programs and approaches.

Purpose

CRS Philippines is looking for an individual who is creative, innovative and able to turn complex ideas/concepts into clear, simple and effective communications materials. The Communications Assistant for CRS Philippines will work closely with the Communications Officer and Regional Communications and Marketing Manager to support project teams and colleagues in the country program in developing communication and outreach materials that tell the impact of CRS’ work, raise the CP’s profile, attract and engage diverse audiences, including donors, partners, national and local governments, media and the public.

Schedule

CRS is seeking a consultant that can be available between 50% level of effort and 100% level of effort (20-40 hours) per week for up to six months.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Communications Officer and Regional Communications and Marketing Manager, the Communications Assistant will perform the following tasks:

  • Design and format materials that communicate the outcomes and impact of CRS projects in the Philippines, such as but not limited to project reports and monthly newsletters;
  • Support sub-offices and teams in developing outreach materials related to the implementation of CRS projects and activities, such as but not limited to briefers, brochures, fact sheets, banners, event and training materials, information, education and promotional products;
  • Review project communications and ensure these are aligned with CRS brand strategy and consistent with CRS brand and publication guidelines and donor requirements;
  • Contribute content and visuals to CRS Philippines Facebook Page by generating ideas and updates from project teams, selecting, drafting and scheduling timely, relevant and concise posts (photos, infographics, videos, GIFs and social cards);
  • Review and edit project donor reports with detailed attention to correct English.
  • Help monitor CRS Philippines Facebook profile and respond to comments and messages on the page;
  • Help archive and maintain photos, videos and other communication and project documents;
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Communications Officer.

Background, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, Advertising, Fine Arts or related studies
  • At least one year of experience in media, publishing, marketing or social media management
  • Experience in publications, layout and graphic design, video production and with INGOs is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in Adobe Creative Cloud applications (InDesign, Lightroom and Photoshop) or other photo, layout and graphic design, video software, as well as Microsoft Office applications, desired
  • Experience in producing social media content and handling social media profiles
  • Knowledge of MailChimp, Yammer and WordPress an advantage

Required/Desired Language

Fluent in spoken and written English and Filipino

External: NASSA/Caritas Philippines, INGO partners, government partners, consultants
