Program Description:
The USAID-funded Uzbekistan All Children Succeeding Activity is a five-year activity with the overall goal to improve the learning outcomes of Uzbekistani primary school students. To achieve this, the activity will strengthen the capacity of education sector systems to provide quality learning environments with the instruction, materials and support that children need while they are in school, at home, or in the community. Equity and inclusion will serve as core principles of this activity; therefore, interventions will work to address the learning needs of children with disabilities and integrate Universal Design for Learning principles to ensure that approaches reach and support all children.
Position Summary:
The Communications Assistant will support the Communications Manager in the design and dissemination of a broad range of communications products and activities, including quality control for written translations and interpretation at workshops and events. S/he will also translate assigned program documents, reports, deliverables, and other project documents from Uzbek to English, Russian to English, English to Uzbek, and English to Russian, as required and support project staff who require interpretation at meetings.
Reporting: This position reports to the Communications Manager.

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of a communications strategy that will effectively inform program stakeholders and audiences (i.e., USAID, host government, private sector, civil society, youth leaders and media) about program activities and outcomes of programming approaches.
- * Lead field visits to coordinate the process of taking high-quality photos of the communities and individuals impacted by the program’s activities. Photos should be taken before, during, and after program activities to document change and impact.
- * Support in the development of events with implementing partners at the community level with scouting, logistics and ensuring the correct use of branding and marking.
- * Assist the Communications Manager in writing and editing success stories, collaborating with colleagues to identify topics and conduct interviews.
- * Support in the use of branding and marking guidelines and ensure they are understood and followed by Creative staff and implementing partners.
- * In coordination with the Communications Manager, develop briefing materials, scene setters, and other communication tools that may be needed to effectively communicate with stakeholders and USAID.
- * Support in the validation and review of communication materials in their content and graphic inputs developed: printed, digital, videos and photos.
- * Responsible for the documentation of all communications resources and uploading them in the project SharePoint.
- * Provide quality control for outsourced written translations and interpretation at workshops, trainings, and other events.
- * Translates program materials from Uzbek to English, Russian to English, English to Uzbek, and English to Russian.
- * Provides both verbal and written translation and interpretation during meetings in Uzbek, Russian, and English, as needed.
- * Performs other duties as assigned by the Communications Manager.
- Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
- * Fluency in English, Uzbek, and Russian.
- * Previous experience with written and consecutive translation is required in education or a related field (simultaneous translation is a plus). Experience with the terminology of inclusive education, universal design for learning, disability inclusion, or a related field is highly desirable.
- * Prior experience with international organizations or international-funded projects is desirable.
- * High level of oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions in English, Uzbek and/or Russian;
- * Strong administration and organizational skills.
- * Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff, international personnel, government officials, and the NGO community;
- * Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team;
- * Proficiency in Microsoft office software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. is required.
- * Ability to work under pressure and efficiently handle multiple tasks;
- * Candidate must be authorized to work in Uzbekistan.
