The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a highly talented Communication Associate to organise and manage the internal and external communications activities of the Bangladesh country office portfolio. This role will be based out of Dhaka, Bangladesh and is offered on a 2 years’ fixed term contract, with the intention to extend thereafter, subject to funding.
About GAIN
GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving the consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.
About the role
Working closely with the Project Manager, MMS and the GAIN Bangladesh country office team as the Communications Associate, you regularly provide communications support and will be responsible for supporting with the implementation of the country communication plan in areas such as: social media activation, organisational profile and developing impact driven case studies working with Country and GAIN Global Communications Team.
The role will also work closely with the Bangladesh leadership team to design innovative communication ideas to add values to GAIN’s portfolios, dissemination of information under the UN Food Systems Summit (UN FSS) and Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit including Act4Food Act4Change Global Campaign and linkages with environment and climate change.
Role specifics include;
- Supporting with the development and implementation of a communications plan that will guide the programme’s internal and external communication
- Developing quality media advocacy/communications materials (e.g. flyers, leaflets, fact sheets, success stories, media kits, photographs, video clips, documentaries, radio programs etc).
- Supporting the global and country teams to generate content and success stories for donors, stakeholders, mainstream media and social media outlets including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Blogs and website
- Supporting Project Managers in coordinating events and information and knowledge needed for the various programmatic work
- Supporting with regular monitoring activities and reporting to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts
About you
You must be a self-starter with proven professional experience of working in a similar communications focused role, preferably with an NGO or international organisation. You will be an effective communicator and be able to use this skill to develop positive relationships to motivate the teams and external stakeholders. In addition, you will have social media and content creation skills alongside proven experience working in working with Government, UN, development partners, media, and research agencies. You must be confident and fully conversant in business English, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Programmes (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) is an additional asset.
