Communications, Graphic Design and Knowledge Management Contractor in Bangkok At UN High Commissioner for Refugees

Title of project: PSP communications, graphic design, and knowledge management support (NOB)

Purpose of project: To provide support to the communications function of the newly formed CCD team at PSP Asia, including the creation and delivery of high-quality and visually impactful materials and assets that will strengthen PSP Asia’s communications, steward partnerships and raise funds for UNHCR, as well as meet donor visibility and further communication needs. The individual will also provide support to knowledge management to strengthen documentation, evidence and internal communications that will further support the work and development of PSP Asia and the PSP markets across APAC.

Duration and dates of the assignment: From: 1 May 2024 To: 31 December 2024

Part time: 60 Working days until 31 December 2024

Location: PSP Asia Office and home-based in Bangkok

Suggested fee : 250 USD per day of comms, design and KM work
Payment schedule: Upon completion of deliverables and receipt of invoice, detailing days worked, payment will be made monthly.

General Background of Project or Assignment: UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships Service’s Communications, Content and Digital (CCD) team
supports across the service’s different pillars of fundraising and partnerships to generate income and resources for UNHCR. Critical to this work is core communication, graphic design and knowledge management work that helps to tell the story of the refugee cause using visually compelling assets
and supported by a strong evidence base.

Overall Purpose and Scope of Assignment: PSP Asia’s CCD team wishes to contract one communications, graphic design and knowledge
management contractor to support the expanding needs of PSP communications and to streamline work processes given the team’s growing commitments and expanded support function offered to
APAC fundraising markets. This contractor must bring strong visual and analytical skills and relevant experience to deliver a wide range of communications assets, services and support to strengthen the
work between partners and UNHCR, as well as teams within UNHCR, that delivers results in engaging ways for people forced to flee. We request that the contractor be available to commence this contract starting as soon as possible

The TOR for this contractor might include but should not be limited to:

• Design reports, brochures, toolkits, newsletters, fact sheets, briefing notes, and other such publications to support the sections the Private Sector Partnerships service to communicate their content in the most effective and compelling way, applying the UNHCR brand guidelines throughout for consistency and coherence.

• Design infographics, data visualization and factographs for print and/or digital platforms, including the organization’s intranet and social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter).

• Design and layout PowerPoint presentations, as requested.

• Source quality and the most suitable photo and videos from the UNHCR database in line with the global guidelines.

• Design logo and vector illustrations, as requested.

• In close consultation with the Data, Identity Management and Analysis (DIMA) unit, produce geographic maps of countries and regions using the latest technology and most up to date maps, as requested.

• Design posters, banners and graphic materials to support events, campaigns, and meetings, as requested. Liaise and coordinate the printing production of certain publications and materials.

• Design and produce motion graphics, as requested.

• Support on knowledge management including optimizing the service’s use of SharePoint and other platforms for internal communications.

• Support requests from fundraising markets in Asia and the Pacific to enable certain activities that drive income from UNHCR.

• Support on capacity and community building among fundraising markets in Asia and the Pacific, through initiatives such as skill shares and webinars.

• Meet with project sponsors to agree on creative brief, timelines, and deliverables.

Level of responsibilities required : Mid-Level Support

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Knowledge Management, or a related field.

Experience:
•Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 1 year at the international level.

•Experience in all three areas (communications, graphic design & knowledge management) is required.

Communications:
• Proven experience developing and implementing communication strategies for diverse audiences.
• Excellent writing and editing skills for various communication materials (press releases, reports, website content, etc.).
• Experience in project and/or institutional communications, ideally in a multilingual context.
• Strong understanding of digital communication trends and platforms (social media, content management systems).

Graphic Design:
• Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred).
• Experience creating visually appealing and clear infographics, presentations, reports, and other communication materials.
• Ability to adapt design concepts to different communication channels (print, web, social media).

Knowledge Management:
• Experience in developing and managing knowledge repositories and platforms.
• Strong understanding of knowledge management principles and best practices.
• Skills in information curation, organization, and dissemination.

Additional Skills:
• Fluency in English, with working knowledge of at least one other UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) a strong asset.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in relevant IT tools and applications (MS Office Suite, project management software, etc.).

Desired Qualities:
• Commitment to the UN’s goals and objectives.
• Strong understanding of international development issues.
