Communications Lead At UNCAC Coalition

The UNCAC Coalition is looking for a Communications Lead to join its global Hub in Vienna, Austria.

In a multi-faceted role in a start-up like environment with a small team, the Communications Lead takes responsibility for different communications outputs of the Coalition, ensures that outputs are of high quality, innovative, have clear messaging and reach the relevant stakeholders; coordinates advocacy efforts and supports the production and editing of reports (co-)produced by the Coalition in its efforts to advance the monitoring and implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead external communication efforts of the UNCAC Coalition and ensure that information on activities of the UNCAC Coalition and information relevant to its wider network is shared in a timely and effective manner
  • Ensure effective and regular information sharing with members and organisation’s in the wider network of the UNCAC Coalition
  • Coordinate advocacy campaigns on specific issues
  • Produce internal and external communication outputs: draft blog posts, statements, website updates, letters, advocacy materials, etc.; review and edit blog posts and other outputs produced by other team members
  • Lead the production of a regular email newsletter
  • Lead social media activities of the UNCAC Coalition
  • Develop and implement innovative communication approaches to better communicate the Coalition’s messages and to effectively engage key target audiences, including by producing graphics, videos and possibly also audio outputs
  • Support the advocacy work of issue-specific work of UNCAC Coalition working groups
  • Organise and coordinate events (panel discussions, webinars, etc.) in close coordination with other team members and external partners
  • Support and facilitate trainings, workshops, advocacy meetings and other activities of the UNCAC Coalition involving external stakeholders, including in the run-up to and around the 9th UNCAC Conference of the States Parties
  • Engage the Coalition membership and its wider civil society network to ensure regular sharing of information, to help grow the Coalition’s network and further increase the involvement and engagement of members in the work of the Coalition
  • Support the production of parallel reports on national UNCAC implementation, produced by partner organisations jointly with the UNCAC Coalition: provide guidance to researchers, peer review, editing and final production of reports
  • Contribute to donor reporting
  • Support internal governance, organizational development and internal communication efforts and contribute to other activities of the Coalition

Your Profile

  • You have a degree in communications, journalism, political science, or another relevant field
  • You have at least three years of relevant experience working on communications and relevant to the tasks and responsibilities of the position, working for civil society organizations, media outlets, governmental bodies or relevant international organizations (experience working with civil society organizations or think tanks, in particular in an international setting, is preferred)
  • You are an excellent writer and editor with native-level English skills
  • You have demonstrated experience producing and editing different types of written outputs (blog posts, policy briefs, website content, etc.) and enjoy communicating online and offline, while accounting for cross-cultural contexts
  • You are interested in policy issues and can translate technical information into easily accessible communication outputs
  • You can demonstrate interest in anti-corruption, good governance, human rights, and ideally have worked on related issues
  • You are a diligent self-starter, show initiative, are reliable, pay attention to detail and feel passionate about our cause
  • You feel comfortable working in a small team and taking on new tasks and responsibilities
  • You have strong Microsoft Office skills and don’t shy away from teaching yourself to use new software and apps. Ideally, you have experience using WordPress
  • Ideally, you have experience with graphic design software and with video editing and production
  • In addition to an excellent command of English, the Coalition’s working language, command of other languages – particularly of one or several other UN official languages – is desirable
  • You have a valid working permit for Austria (EU/Schengen area), and can be based in Vienna, Austria

What we offer

  • A salary of EUR 2,200 per month (38.5h/week), 14 times a year (i.e. EUR 30,800 annual gross), with the potential of higher remuneration depending on the candidate’s profile and relevant experience
  • Partially working from home is possible

    Starting date: As soon as possible

    Contract Duration: We can currently offer an employment contract limited until the end of 2022. There is a prospect of extension subject to organizational need continuing, additional funding being confirmed and a strong performance. From our side, there is interest in a stable and long-term cooperation.
