Context
Impact Santé Afrique (ISA ) is a non-governmental organization based in Cameroon whose main objective is to contribute to improving the health of populations by implementing transformative and sustainable programs that will improve the health of our communities (for more For information, visit www.impactsante.org ). Impact Santé Afrique (ISA ) coordinates the global platform of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for the elimination of malaria (CS4ME). ISA is looking for a Communication Officer in the fight against malaria and community health.
- Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Communications Officer will be responsible for the overall development and implementation of ISA’s communications plan. He/she is also responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of ISA’s communications activities and events to reinforce the organization’s core mission.
Program design and implementation
- Contribute to the development and manage the execution of the communications plan
- Lead and ensure the quality of the operational implementation of the strategy related to the development of integrated communications campaigns that ensure maximum impact and effectiveness and large-scale transformational change at the policy and community level.
- Lead the planning, implementation and execution of quality campaigns linked to identified communications priorities at global, regional and national levels
Communication
- Collaborate and supervise the communications team including infographics
- Participate in meetings, seminars and other strategic/important events at national, regional and international levels.
- Contribute to the development and dissemination of materials for media and other audiences, such as speeches, articles, statements, press releases, blog content and other social media.
- Ensure that the fieldwork of communications colleagues is integrated into programmatic reporting.
Support the development of ISA
- Contribute to the development and implementation of ISA’s communications strategy
- Develop communication supports adapted to each project and each target (press releases, leaflets, content, declarations, video messages, etc.)
- Identify the needs for communication tools and supports (updates and new tools) for ISA and partner CSOs; and develop these tools, supervise and edit the production of communication supports and tools (flyer, brochures, poster, radio spots, articles, photos, videos, etc.);
- Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of communication actions, in collaboration with other teams.
- Develop, implement and manage ISA’s social media communications.
- Produce strategic reports on the local media landscape (key media, listeners and readers, use of social networks, etc.)
- Edit and revise technical documents and reports produced by the teams: PowerPoint, presentations, flyers, etc.)
- Produce activity reports and meeting minutes;
- Carry out any other task entrusted by the communications manager and/or management.
- Design and develop quality communications and promotion project proposals that are in line with the organization’s strategic priorities and meet donor requirements.
- Support the communications team in developing their capabilities in communication, program/project planning and management, quality control.
- Guarantee the quality of reports in accordance with ISA standards;
- Qualifications
- A master’s degree in communications, advocacy, social sciences or a related field.
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in communications
- Ability to work in an international/multicultural environment.
- Excellent writing skills in English and very good knowledge of French. Excellent oral and written communication skills (including report writing) to produce professional documents to international standards and to participate in discussions and debates.
- Excellent relationship management skills. Strong negotiation and influencing skills. Ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and diverse stakeholders such as members of government, partners and community members, donors, civil society actors from other sectors and high-level policy makers .
- A positive and dynamic attitude Strong organizational skills, work methodology:
- Ability to plan, prioritize and organize own work and that of others; ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and also in collaboration with colleagues.
- This position requires national and international travel
