Communications Officer, Pacific Labour Facility – Brisbane

Project Overview:

The PLF works with DFAT and DEWR to support the administration of the PALM scheme and facilitate opportunities for Australian employers to connect with workers from the Pacific and Timor-Leste. The PLF is managed by Palladium and has been established as a trusted intermediary in supporting Australia-Pacific circular labour mobility.

Role Overview:

The Communications Officer will work with the Communications and Engagement Manager and the wider communications and media team to coordinate general communications and administration requirements of the Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) and support engagement activities with a range of stakeholders via a range of online, offline and in-person formats including direct email marketing, digital and social media, internal communications, e-learnin g, events, advertising and trade/industry media.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the delivery and administration of engaging and accurate communication content and direct email communications for PALM scheme stakeholders via various online and offline platforms and channels. This could include content gathering, editing, stakeholder engagement and approvals, email audience list and general platform management.
Assist in delivering PLF’s internal communications function, both on digital channels/platforms (e.g., Yammer, Sharepoint) and offline channels.
Assist with website and social media management and monitoring.
Support PLF’s knowledge management/e-learning function on digital channels, offline channels and in-person events.
Liaise with other PLF teams and partners to support communications procurement activities.
Provide general administrative support and maintain the communications team’s online filing and document management systems.

Required Qualifications:

A relevant qualification in communications and/or media, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education.
Practical editorial, content or media experience, with demonstrated writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Good working knowledge of direct email communications channels to inform a range of stakeholders.
Basic graphic design/presentation skills, e.g. producing and formatting PowerPoint and Word documents and reports, ensuring documents/content are accessible.
Good working knowledge of content production using a range of channels/tools and software, e.g. Yammer, Sharepoint, website content management systems, Microsoft suite, Adobe Creative suite (e.g. Photoshop, Indesign).
Good working knowledge of social media channel management and monitoring.
Demonstrated administrative experience, ideally including procurement coordination, in a communications, marketing or media environment.
Willingness to travel occasionally if required.

The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract to 31 December 2023. This is a Brisbane based role with options for flexible working. Candidates who are willing to relocate for the position must do so at their own expense.
